UREGNT NEED THOUGHTS ON STUDENT VISA ISSUE

Well my timeline is as follows
Applied 16th July
Medical Letter 26th July
Medical Sent to New Delhi 3rd August

My main issue is i have to be in the university by the 18th of August as i have been selected for a course before the normal classes which begin on september 9th 2010.All this information was stated in the application.But till today i have failed to recieve any information from the embassy's side.I sent them an email recently but they have not replied to that.What options are open to me,is it possible i could receive the visa in coming days?

Furthermore does the prestige,ranking of the university affect the visa process?

hey u applied to which university? i applied on 14th july at chandigarh still no response frm them...........
you will get ur passport next week i think

u can fax or email embassy regarding ur problem in form of letter........ hope this will make ur passport come soon
