:( Hi guys, I searched "passport size", "passport", "more than one passports" in the forum and couldn't get an answer so here it is the silly question...

I got an ITA and now uploading docs. The requirement of the passport need name photo page and all visas and stamps page.
I have two passports, one is old. each of them have more than 15 pages with stamps and visas.

1)By using only 100dpi the file still came out too big... and the image is already looking blurry. would it be ok if the image looks like I forgot to put on my glasses?
2)One way of shrinking the size is, can I ONLY scan pages with Canadian visas and stamps? the website didn't specify that. such as: page of a visa for Ireland with a UK custom stamp and a GNIB Ireland stamp on it. Can I skip this page?
3) only 1 file can be uploaded so I should combine both passports into a single file? with only 100dpi the pdf size came out more than 20mb... :'(

Any suggestion or clarification is appreciated.. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Only current and valid passport is required.

If the file is still too big then try compressing it using smallpdf.com

Thank you for the quick reply! using smallpdf.com the file is even harder to read.. would that be ok? the solution on CIC website says 94 dpi and I am at 100dpi. 18 pages. 11.6MB. still too big. :-\

that site is magical! thank you a lot! shrank to less than 1mb lmao

Hey Johyo,

You can also try going to Adobe reader, file > save as > reduced-size PDF. This should bring the size down, couple of MBs. The only downside is that, upon opening the document, it takes a bit (2-3 secs) for Adobe reader to rebuild all the pages.

Link - https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/saving-pdfs.html#reduce_file_size_by_saving

Also, I have 2x passports, with 11 and 12 pages, respectively. My config is 150 dpi, type - document, size - letter, using Epson Scan utilty. All 23 pages are 4.84 MB uncompressed and 3.11 MB compressed (Using reduced-size PDF feature).

Another thing I have noticed that "Windows Fax and Scan" utily generates bit heavy pages. Avoid using it. Try using vendor provided utility.

I hope that helps.

I uploaded two whole passport, each of them has 50 pages (old one with majority of my travel history and current passport as well), the final size of my new&old passport pdf is no more than 4mb
I suggest you download the newest adobe acrobat reader pro DC, it has amazing resizing function in"Optimize PDF"

May I suggest that you simply upload you most recent passport. Secondly, the site below is very good when it come to working on your pdf:

pdfresizer.com

you can also use

smallpdf.com

Best wishes!
