Is it a must to do upfront medical examinations for spousal PR application?

If we didn't do then will the embassy request for it or will they reject the whole application?

If you didn't submit it up front, then do it when CIC request it. I've heard medical upfront help the process to be faster

that's what I heard too. but if the process takes longer than 1 year and the medical was done upfront, do they request another medical?

I had the same conception that if you send medicals upfront that helps in faster processing of application. Guess what I am in my 11th month and still waiting, medicals were sent upfront. :-(

Are you applying inland or outland. If you are applying outland i suggest you do your medicals up front to complete the application .CIC can extend your medicals if you are near the end of your application . It will definitely delay your application if you are applying outland.

Thanks a lot guys.

If to do upfromt medicals, what documents should we take to the doctor? There is no open file in CIC, so how the medical results will be sent?

You will just need your passport, and maybe some photos(this varies for each clinic so ask when you book). You will get a piece of paper from the clinic to include with your application. They match it up with the electronic system in which the clinic will submit it.

They will give you a e-medical receipt that you should attach with your application. I also attached the actual receipt of payment too, because it shows it was done by a panel physician. CIC has a list of panel physicians that you must go to for the upfront medical exam.

your receipt for your payment is not necessary. ONLY panel physicians can access the emedical system, so if you have the emedical receipt, that is proof enough you went to a panel doctor. i am sure there is some identifying information about the doctor's office when it's sent to CIC. ONLY the emedical receipt is required in the application. it's usually not recommended to send anything that isn't required. even though it probably doesn't matter either way, if submitted, the receipt of payment to the doctor's office will most likely just be thrown out as it has no value to the application.

Thanks for the information!

So, if I understand this right, my wife, the applicant, just contacts the panel physician for an appointment, and the process precedes fromt here?

Is it that simple?

Thanks. I'm just surprised that anything in this process can be "simple", LOL

when it comes down to it, the process is relatively simple and common sense, especially for US citizens. what makes it complicated is getting caught up in the amount of paperwork needed, interpreting the "legalese" of the documents, and letting the negative experiences of others get in the way of focusing on our own application.
