And one more thing i m confused when v go for upfront med ...cic wl send us for rprf req only but isint a tension too as we will not hear from cic in between that long when others might b getting med req ....as med req sent from cic directly gives a bit peace of mind tooo that 90% our file is thru....

So m confused whether to do or to wait

Sheena you are right that we get 90% tension free once we get out MR. But if you read few posts earlier on this thread they discussing about prons/cons of doing Upfront Medicals and the only thing I learnt reading that is even if we get MR there are chances of getting rejected. Some guys also got rejection even if they received RPRF & Biodata request.

So in my opinion doing Upfront is a good step to consider if you already got your GCMS Notes and it clearly says that your eligibility is PASS. & you are sure that your security clearances might be also clear. Coz as far as I know we only have this two major steps to clear in order to get CEC PR.

In conclusion I will suggest you to order GCMS & if it says that you are eligible then got for Upfront Meds. Since, you will be saving 2-3 weeks of process.

I am Nov applicant and I am also planning to do upfront medical for my spouse who is in India and for me in missossuaga. Ontario

Keep it up, Medical in India costs Rs. 3500, so forex $ 75 as in Canada currently.
Medical in Canada it costs minimum $250, so do it.. see the difference

Thanks rinku patel...

I ordered my gcms notes 2 days ....i m thinking to go for med...hopefully all goes well

My husband came here in sep on sowp and did his medicals in aug 2013 in india....as i m going for upfront med ...do he need to do his again or his last medicals r gud to sent...

Pls advise

Hi,

I live in Montreal and tried reaching a centre for upfront medical exam as I expect a medical request by this month end (if CIC continues to work in the same manner what it did with June applicants).

The centre name is CMIPQ located in saint Catherine street. When I called them below is what they said

"You need to bring your passport, Immigration document mentioning your file number i.e AOR, one passport size photo and 200$ to be paid person either cash, visa or debit. " so far so good. When I enquired about time it will take them to process results n send them back to CIC, they said two weeks even if they are emedical enabled.

Just want to confirm from fellow applicants about the timeline.

Appreciate any help

Sounds about right. The processing time varies and could be anywhere between 1 - 4 weeks, as the doctor has to review the results
before uploading them to CIC.

Please let me know what is the best nice way to update CIC that you have done upfront medical.

once you finish upfront medical, they give you a piece of paper with UMI on it.
scan it and email to CIC ;)

Hello Toby, One of my colleague who is a May last week 2013 applicant did upfront medicals in Dec-Jan not sure about the exact date, his doctor uploaded the reports but did not tell him the exact date. Somewhere in Jan and end feb 14 he got the auto generated email from CIC requesting for Medicals along with attachments. His case is stagnant since then till date and waiting every day for RPRF and PPR, he doesn't see any changes in his status as well, I am sure he must have applied for GCMS. My concern is about the timing for doing upfront medicals, I believe going for upfront medicals and apply for GCMS at the same time should be the move for us, I applied on 9th Sep, I believe the same day when you applied. What say?

Yes, I also applied on Sept 9th. I have my medicals scheduled for Saturday, March 1st. I'll check with the doctor and order GCMS about a
week after uploading the results, this should give CIC enough time to enter the data into their systems and the data should
then reflect in the GCMS notes.

Lets hope we achieve the objective of saving time. Another colleague of mine did upfront medicals after 4-5 months of filing application(may 13) , he got his PR in Jan.
