upfront medical trouble

I have received ITA and according to my document check list, I and my wife both have to submit proof of medical exam. The only instructions provided is what I have pasted below. I called a panel physician in the USA for upfront medical and they are telling me I need a UCI or IME number for both me and my wife. I do have a UCI number since I applied to CIC before but my wife does not, she is actually not accompanying me to Canada but still has to do the medical. Does anybody know what I should do now? They are saying they can't do upfront medical for my wife without either UCI or IME number.

"You require a medical exam. Learn how to get an upfront medical exam. In order to submit your online application, you will need to upload the information printout sheet or the IMM 1017B Upfront Medical Report form. Your doctor will give you one of these forms when you complete your medical exam.

If you cannot get a medical exam before the deadline to submit your work permit application, you may submit proof that you have a scheduled an appointment."

I had the same issue in US. They were so adamant that IME number is needed. I kept explaining them that it's a upfront medical for express entry stream. Then they confirmed with the doctor and gave me an appointment the next day without IME number.

Just tell them that the medical type is 'worker non-EDE' and it won't require IME number. IME number is required only for family immigration. Say them that new guidelines were issued sometime in December on this. Doctor must definitely be aware or will be able to check.. Receptionist may not.

Thank you very much. I called and told them as you advised. They said they would have to give me the paper for my wife to submit myself and I said it was fine.
It's crazy that CIC refers you to these people and they do not know how to do their job.

Specify that you are an EE candidate and have to take upfront medical. They wont refuse.

I did but they still did refuse. Below is part of what they sent me. So I had to say our application was 'worker non-EDE' as DEEPCUR advised to convince them.

As of February 25th, 2013, all applications for Canadian Immigrations needs to be processed electronically through E-MEDICAL. Which means it is YOUR responsibility to start the process in the E-Medical system THE ONLY exams which DO NOT have to be submitted through E-Medical by you, prior to setting the appointment for Examination are:
1)UPFRONT MEDICALS: (Student, Visitor, Worker)
2) Those with an old IMM1017 Section A form, including those with the application number that starts with B
3) In-Canada refugees who received a letter of medical instruction by the border services (without a IMM1017)
4) If you belong to any other categories (PR, HC etc) it is YOUR responsibility to obtain the necessary information from the VISA office to proceed with the medical examination.

My clinic in London has emedical and they didnt ask for me for any number. they did upfront medicals as I was an EE candidate. Have you tried another physician on the panel?

No, this one is the closest to me (still over 2 hours of driving), the others are at least two times further. I think we should now be able to get the appointment after specifying ourselves as workers. For me they should be able to do e-medical since I have a UCI and for my wife they said they would give me a paper so I can upload it. I guess we'll be fine.

Are you sure if it is okay to use an old UCI number for this? I would make sure.

Does it ever change? My understanding was that it always remains the same. It has indeed been the same on all my work and study permits. I inserted it in my EE profile and application too as I was asked for it. The clinic said they use it to locate me in the e-medical system.

These doctors offices are pretty crazy. ( I am in GA)

They don't get updated with CIC.

I was in a similar boat and infact doctor told me to go back as they couldn't find the right category.

I told them you mark me under 'worker non-EDE' and i will be accountable if CIC rejects.

They finally did , I was pretty confident due to this forum else I would have been back.

So insist your doctors in US that you need to scheduled as 'worker non-EDE'

Got a question regarding the medicals - I did mine and My family's last month. Explained the medical centre ( its in downtown Toronto by the way ) that its for express entry upfront. They gave me two choices 'worker non EDE' or 'visitor non EDE'. Mine and my wife's reports were marked as worker EDE, but for my son who is 17 months old it did not make sense to use a worker tag so its marked as 'visitor EDE'. Am I doing anything wrong?

It should not matter, you are good.
