Hello,

Unfortunately I did not insert the UCI number of my previous application into my new application. But I stated it in the "Background Information" in response to the question "Have you previously applied to enter or remain in Canada?. Also I stated in my letter of explanation while responding to the queries and concerns of my previous application.

And now the Canadian High Commission is asking for a new medicals. However the panel physicians have declined to do it.

Please Help me Guys what should I do.
mike.

Hello Hassan,
I am waiting for “passport request letter” from the Canadian High Commission. However, my passport is about to expire.
I want to renew it before I submit.
Would that be a problem.

Thanks in advance.

Hi There,

So are your medical results cleared up now that you're waiting for passport request? Also what is your complete timeline?

Lastly when does your passport expire, if your passport expires in like 5-6 months, your TRV will be issued for that time period and once you're in Canada, you can apply for new passport at Pakistani High Commission and apply for another TRV.

The study permit paper is issued at the border anyways so that will be valid for the duration of your studies and TRV is the visa which you will use to travel, so as long as it is valid at least past September, you should be fine.

Hi Hassan,
Passport will expire in September 2020.

My medicals has passed. I applied in 25th June.
Medical request letter was in 16th July. Medicals passed on 22nd July. However, only the medicals review has been updated on the CIC portal.

About the passport, I want a new passport so I don’t have to spend another time and money reapplying for anything should the visa be granted.

Hassan your opinion will be most appreciated.

Which country did you apply from? Paper based or online?

For me, I applied on June 21 paper in Lahore, Pakistan. Linked app online on June 25th. Medical request despite upfront on July 7. Medical passed on July 14. No updates after that, Just says reviewing eligibility and all.

Now to answer your question, your passport is valid for a good enough time. I am not sure how long your program is. So what happens is that when your application is approved, they will issue you a TRV which is used to Travel to Canada and once you're there, at the border you will be issued a paper which will be your study permit (that will be for the length of your program, I am certain about this but still someone can correct me if I am wrong). As for your TRV, it will only be issued until your passport expiry (so in your case Sept 2020). Now you can easily apply for a TRV renewal online which takes 2-3 weeks when applying online from Canada. I know there are fees associated with it but it is worth it. Renewing your passport now and then sending them an update through the IRCC Webform and all will just delay things more and right now there is only a month and a half left till September session starts... I would recommend you not to worry, getting a TRV while in Canada and a valid study permit is a piece of cake. That TRV is just used for you to travel to and from Canada and the study permit itself is not a travel document (it's just a permit)

I hope this helps, and do keep the group updated if you receive any updates on your portal..

I know you mentioned that only medical review changed. Does it also say:

We are reviewing whether you meet eligibility requirements?
We are processing your background check?

Like what does your other statuses say?

Because for me it says:
We are reviewing whether you meet eligibility requirements
We are processing your background check
We do not require fingerprints
(I submitted paper based so did biometrics same day) and top right corner, it shows my biometric enrollment information.

Same as me.

I need your help, I applied on 25th June, I received medical request on the 15th of July, Medicals Passed on 22 July and I received correspondence letter 29th July.

Is this a good sign, How long will it take for me to receive the “passport request” letter?

Thanks

Hi Michael,

So it really depends, I am not too sure here. But what I have read on forums, they say it is a good sign. For me, I received my correspondence letter on July 28 (they say that either in a day or two or in a week) you should get a decision.

Secondly, it depends from which country you applied and what their processing timeline is...

So give it a day or two and see if you get the decision letter. Because if you review this forum, you will see that either people got the decision same day as their correspondence letter or with in a day or two or within a week. Keep me updated on the outcome.

All the best :)
