Hi there,

I am just wondering if the option for doing an upfront medical still exists?

I am aware that CIC website officially says its not possible anymore.

In some other threads I read that some still did it and it worked.

Is there anyone who recently did that and it worked?

I am asking because I have currently time to prepare everything, I am aware that is only valid for a year, but would prefer to do it now.

Thanks for your thoughts!

cheers

No, they stopped up front medicals a couple of years back. Strongly suggest you do not try to 'help' IRCC by doing things until you are asked.

You are supposed to wait for it to be requested; IRCC implemented this change because of long processing times that caused multiple medicals to be required from applicants.

However, a medical is the same across the board, regardless of what app it is for, and if there is a medical already done and not expired, it can be used for any other app. The only way to do that is by telling the Panel Physician's office it is for a different kind of app, i.e. a work or study permit, where upfront medicals are done.

I see. Thanks for your reply. Would still love to do it now since I believe that my new job requieres 100% travel time all over Canada.

It would just make things easier for me if I could do it now, since I have time...

But I guess I wait for the request...

Thanks

They also appear to have cut back on the number of "panel physicians", due I suspect to fraud and/or incompetence.

Yes they have. A LOT fewer in the UK from when my wife had hers 2 years ago!

They "fotgot" to sign my paperwork and I had to go back the following day. It was nearly a week before I got the correct docs.
