Hello.
I am now applying for bc pnp as an inland applicant.
I have heard that i can take an upfront medical exam
in order to save some time in processing.
However, i just got confused from some threads.
They said having an option to take an upfront medical is
Only for EE not for Paper based applicant just like me.
I have booked an appointment at doctor's office on coming thursday.
So please let me know if i can take an upfront medical exam.
If not, should i wait until i get medical request from CIC without booking an appointment?
Booking for Medical takes at least two weeks.
I am worried It will make CIC process even slower.....

AOR: Aug 01, 2014
Nomination: May 08, 2015
Visa Office: Sydney
AOR: Aug 19, 2015
Medical request: waiting

You can do upfront medical even if you apply by paper. However, there is no sense to do it before you send application. Medical are valid for a year and the process of your application may take longer so you will need to do medical again. Your medical test has to be valid while landing (to complete the process)
I would suggest to wait few months, at least for first remainder email. (6-7 months after receiving application by CIC)

Thanks for your reply...

I mean i have got nomination in May 2015.
And i sent application in early June and got AOR in Aug 19 2015.
So i have been waiting for medical request about more than 7 months now.
Do you recommend waiting a few more months still?
There was one thing i didnt understand...
"Before you send application"means what?
I have already sent an application....

I thought i had been waiting for Medical Request
More than 7 minths now so it was almost time for me
to get an reminder email. So if i take it now, i can save some time for later....
Is there anything that doesnt make sense?
Please reply....

But sometimes i see some threads that say
Unfromt medical isnt an option for paper based applicants.
Is there any reason why?
Thanks for reply...
I really appreciate....

i DON'T KNOW, SOME DOCTORS DO SOME NOT.
I called my doctor, described my situation and I got appointment, so there is definitely an option

I havent tried gcm notes yet.
I dont even know how to apply for it.
Anyways, i did an upfront medical On April 8
which i made an appointment at the middle of march.
I tried hard finding information if i can take it.
And i can see some people already done it and
Had no problems after that.
So i do not really worry about it if you have passed 8 or 9months
after getting AOR.
However, i was asked today to come for urine test repeat.
It seems like it happens for some people and doesnt affect that much
on pr processing cause they are mostly not severe diseases.
However i am kind of sad to take it again.
I have to visit to the labotary which is almost 4 hrs away.
Anyway.... Good luck to you. I dont think you need to worry too much
about having an upfrony medical.

Hi Shinocanada,
Are you inland or outland applicant? so you haven't received MR yet? I got my AOR on March 8 2016 and intended to do upfront medical in July or August this year if I don't received MR by these times. I think you should be fine with your tests. Last time I went to a lab to check up my health and they asked me to do another urine test but the doctor said it could have been because I hadn't drunk enough water before the test. Don't worry too much just drink some clean water before you come.

Thanks for your information.

Yes. I am inland applicant.
And had AOR august 19 last year.
It was an upfront medical test.
But the lady on the phone said it is 'super high'...
Just worried.
I dont know why. Maybe a little bit of fever?
So i am planning to get to the hospital
When my conditions are the best.
I heard i can take another urine test in my small town.
So maybe it will help.
Even if i get another urine test still blood high,
There is nothing i can do about it.
I just need to wait what cic may say about it.
I hope they just skip it with this problem or ask me
meeting with a specialist for furthur check up rather than
giving me a refusal right away...

Hi shincanada,
Is there any special instruction to do upfront medical. How did you submit the report when CIC call for medical. Do doctor know about upfront medical? Please share your experience

upfront medicals is not meant for paper based applicant, it is meant for express entry applicants, paper base applicants usually group there medicals, e,g they will pick 20 applicants, send them medical request, and those 20 applicants are the once there expecting there results, so next month too, they send another 20 medical request mail, thats how they do it, if you check medical request mail, you will see there, they will time you, they will give you maximum of 1 month, not you, they didnt send medical request to you, and you went and do medicals,

anyway this is just an advice

the choice is yours

I am paper based applicant and did an upfront medical early May.
Doctor was aware of having an upfront medical and there was nothing different with having medical after the request.
I made an appointment at doctors office and let them know I am having an upfront one.
However I got a reminder for medical examination few weeks later.
I didnt know why I got a reminder.
I think cic was screwed up at that moment. Same thing happened to some of us.
Few weeks later, Ecas showed medical results have been received.
I think there is nothing wrong with upfront medical.
I would take it if I want to.
