I'm a Canadian citizen sponsoring my spouse in Pakistan. She's going to be doing her upfront medical check soon, and I've been told by a friend of mine that I (the sponsor) need to be with her when she's requesting the medical check. Is there any truth to this? If so, why do I need to be there? I'm not sure if I understanding the reason behind this.

i don't know if there is a difference if she does it in Pakistan, but my husband did his medical in Canada and i did not need to be present.

No, this is not a requirement.

Not true. The sponsored spouse is the only on that needs medical and there is no requirement saying you need to be with her during the examination, only if for religious reasons, or when she wouldn't be able to communicate affectively with the panel physician.

Good to hear. Thank you for clearing this up, guys.
