Since we applied for common law sponsorship a few weeks ago a couple things have changed.

- We applied for Outland while she was still in Canada on visitor visa. She is now back in Argentina and back with her parents.
- I am taking a sabbatical from full time job and will be heading to Argentina on a extended stay. Probably as a visitor but will be working remote. I won't have my full time job anymore but my boss says there is a standing offer for my job when I come back

Right now we are awaiting my validation as a sponsor. Should I send them a note with all these updates right away? Or wait till I actually finish my job and move to Argentina? Or wait until I am validated? Or do nothing?

Wait until you get your sponsor approval. Then, when you get to Argentina, update the visa office in Buenos Aires that a) you are temporarily residing in country with your spouse (goes to the genuineness of your relationship) and b) you plan to return at such time as she has her PR, meanwhile you will be working remotely and maintaining all your ties in Canada (goes toward your intent to re-settle in Canada when she has her PR).

I will be in Argentina by month end – my sponsorship approval will take a few more months most likely. Is it cool to wait for my approval while I move out of Canada? Will they call anyone up to check on me to approve me as a sponsor?

I am just worried they will call one of my contacts, or me, and find out I no longer live in Canada (for the moment).

so... we just received word that they opened our file and they just started the process to verify me as the sponsor.

Wondering if now is the time to alert CIC that I have moved to Argentina (temporarily but still.. I am here for the next few months at least)?

Or should I wait until they approve me as the sponsor then alert them once the application is sent to Buenos Aires?

I hoping they will approve me without making any calls -- so that the fact I am in a new location will go under radar. But I dont want to take any undue risks.

as background, here is what their email says to me:

"When should I contact CIC?
You must notify CIC of any changes to your application. Examples of changes include:
• Changes in your personal circumstances, such as birth or adoption of a child, a marriage or a divorce
• Change of contact information (e-mail, mailing address, telephone number)
• Appointment or change of immigration representative or designated individual
• Decision to withdraw your application"

I guess moving countries would fall under that. What should I do? I am worried if I tell them I am out of country they will force us to restart entire application, and cause extra delays.

The only way you are required to stay in Canada is if you are a PR yourself, as long as you are a Canadian Citizen you don't not have to remain in Canada. I would wait to change anything till your sponsorship approval is done, I changed my address just as CIC told me and it has never updated all correspondence has been through e-mail, I got PPR 2 weeks ago and had to include letter (and copy of change of address to CIC) hoping it comes back to me here cus CIC never verified that they even got my change of address, would be really messed up being in Canada and my passport goes back to my sisters in the US LOL

So this week we are going to send them an updated address for both of us. Should I include additional info such as...

- How I will be making money while over seas? Proof from bank, employer?
- What we will be doing together in Argentina?
- Re-state our intention to return to Canada when approval is acquired?
- Fill out any new forms now that our situation is changed? (forms we would have had to filled if we applied while living overseas in the first place for instance.)

secondly, I feel like we could have been more clear about our previous travel and I was thinking of including an extra detailed list of our flights since the one we gave was vague. Is it OK to update things in the application even before they ask for clarification? Or should I just wait?

I am not sure if you you have to fill out the forms, but I would definitely inform the VO now, also because it all plays in your favor.

So - yes, let them know ( by using the case specific enquiry for BA office first maybe, and then also sending the information directly to the VO) that you have relocated to Argentina for the time being, to be with your spouse, and include proofs of that. Although you have already been approved as a sponsor, the VO can still assess your intention to go back to Canada - so make sure that you make it clear that you do intend to go back to Canada. If possible, get a letter from your boss stating his intention to take you back when you move back to Canada. Include proofs that you didn't resign from your job, but got a sabbatical year. If you own a property in Canada, include that to. Just make sure that the VO is convinced that you will be moving back to Canada, and that you didn't just wait to be approved as a sponsor to inform them once approved.

Since you will be working remote, you can include proofs of that, so that they see that you have a way to support your family now, and in the future. They don't want you to go on welfare, and you got approved based on the assumption that you won't - so it's important to show them that although your situation has changed, you are still economically sound, and you have a plan for the future.

Second part being assessed by the VO is the genuine relationship: explain why you moved to Argentina, what is your plan while staying in BA, and any proof that you are living together already now, so they can see that the relationship is genuine (you taking a sabbatical year to move to be with her is a very good proof of that, so you might as well use all of that!).

You can ask them if it is needed to complete new forms or if they are satisfied with what they have, and wait for their answer. From what I can see, the BA office has an average time of 13 months, so i doubt that your file is opened yet, but you can always send the information and they should be able to add the info to your file, until they start reviewing it. I don't know if your VO has a good history of responding to queries (mine doesn't! :) ) so I would expect them to answer, but you never know! you can prepare all the information in an organised and logical way, with all proofs, and send them everything.

Good luck with your application,
Sweden

does anyone know if we need to re-submit different forms (i.e. forms that we would have had submit if we were applying from out of country from the beginning?)

from what I remember, the forms are the same. The main difference is that when you fill out the forms and you are inside of Canada already, you don't have to prove that you will relocate there with your family once the PR is granted.... which is a major point of assessment for the first stage from CIC. In your case, you have been assessed while in Canada, so you probably didn't provide much information on your "plans to re-establish residence". Now that you are moving, it's important that you spend a good deal of efforts proving your intention. Even if you have already been approved, if the VO feels that your intentions have changed, then they might ask you for more elements - you might as well make your intention clear to them from the beginning, it will save you time. Explain your plan, document it, give them all the proofs you have (see my previous post) that you will move back to Canada when the PR is granted, and you should be fine.
Good luck,
Sweden
