Hi everyone,

I am about to submit my EE after having received an ITA. The problem is I am missing one of my criminal records - I will get it in less than 3 weeks (after the deadline though), once I fly to Burkina Faso and go through the process.

I was wondering if I can update the submitted profile after it's been transferred. I will explain my situation in the letter of explanation (that I physically need to fly to Burkina Faso!) to get the document, which I couldn't do earlier as I had recently started a job and was misinformed about the possiblity of getting the criminal records.

Thank you

Hi,

as long as you explain that on the LOE, I don't think you won't have any problem. Submit the documents before your deadline along LOE explaining that you will upload Burkina Faso PCC after you travel there to get the document.

I just wonder if your application will be deemed incomplete before they receive such PCC.

Great, thank you for the quick reply.

Does anyone have a similar experience? According to the website (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/invitations.asp):

"For countries where you have lived for six months or more, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you lived in that country.

In some countries, it can take a long time to get police certificates. If you did not start the process to get them before you were invited to apply, you should do this right away, so you can submit them before the 90 days are up
."

I am worried that they might refuse, despite me having provided criminal records of 3 other countries.

Also, can you update it right away after submitting? Or is it locked until someone from CIC has looked at your profile (for an initial assessment let's say) before unlocking it? If not, anyone could just submit their application even if they are missing multiple documents...

Has anyone experienced this (or a similar) situation?

Thank you

You will have to send a Case Specific Enquiry asap. Basically an email to cic. https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx

Thanks DelPiero07, exactly what I was thinking. However, because I would have uploaded a document (containing my criminal records of three other countries), the only moment they will notice something is missing is by opening the document and reading through it. If I can upload a new version within three weeks and if they don't look at my application before then (I'd be surprised if they do so quickly), then I should be fine..

Thanks kryt0n - everytime I messaged CIC, they just ask me to add an explanation on my LOE... Not very useful unfortunately :/

No one here can assure you CIC will not reject your application as incomplete because who knows what they'll do. But, if you do everything possible to prove you're in the process of getting it, they may treat it the same as they do for those who are awaiting US PCCs. Submit a LoE explaining the situation and saying you're working on getting it. If you're having to fly to another country to get it, include the flight reservation from the airline to prove you are indeed going there. If you have the appointment made already for fingerprints, etc., include that as well.

Thanks mgnlky, this is very useful and clever to think about adding my flight reservation. I will for sure.

Is it possible to update the criminal record document with an additional criminal record check after submitting your application following an ITA, but before it is reviewed by CIC?

Please see step 5 - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1005&top=29

Is the "locked" transmitted/"unlocked" transmitted option only applicable when submitting your initial EE profile? Or after an ITA?
