Unpaid auto insurance and citizenship application.

Hello,

Last year I lost my job and I couldn't pay my auto insurance and it got canceled due to non payment. I recently applied my citizenship in September. My auto insurance went to collection agency and returned back to the insurance provider as I couldn't pay my bill.
I am worried if this is going to have any impact on my citizenship application now or in ant future. I will make an arrangement for payment by calling them. But I am worried if my long delinquency in payment is going to put me in a fraud or some charges against me in future which will affect my citizenship. Thanks.

Why didn't suspend your auto insurance for the year if you cannot pay?

As mentioned, you should have suspended your auto insurance, stopped driving .
Having it cancelled for non payment wasn’t the wisest thing to do , and that’s being kind

Auto insurance doesn’t cancel on its own

Non payment for auto insurance can be detrimental not only to your credit scores , but can put you into the insurance penalty box . High risk insurer . Now when you apply for car insurance, and it ask you
“ Have you had previous car insurance that’s been cancelled?”
You must say , yes

And why would a citizenship application be connected to your car insurance ?

No it wouldn’t
