University Transcripts, Help Needed

Hi,

I graduated from an indian University. Curently i am living in US.i am preparing my application form for canadian immigration,havent submitted it yet. The buffalo office website indicates that i need to send them a SEALED university transcripts. Heres my issue.

1. The university ppl are telling me that can will send it only to the canadian authorities directly and not to the candidate. but i havent submitted my application yet hence there will be no file refer to send the transcripts.

Can i send a notorised photocopy of my university certificates along with a letter stating that the university has so and so requirements. will that be a viable option, will my application be rejected for not having a university sealed transcripts.

pls advice i am stuck at this last stage of completing my application.

Nope, contact your university, again, you don't send what CHC wants, they send it back. And you are at square 1 again.

Hi Balaji,

It is rather surprising.When we applied for immigration to the CHC,N.Delhi,of course,through our agent,we were not asked to provide any sealed transcripts from the university.I thought this will be so only in the case of applying for higher education to one of the universities abroad.Have you talked to the immigration authorities in Buffalo for sending a notarised copy of the transcripts provisionally before you could arrange for the sealed transcripts eventually? Alternatively,have you attempted to contact the university authorities to send the sealed transcripts to yourself? Perhaps if you have a contact in the university in which you studied,may be that individual would be able to represent your case effectively.

Hi there,

I am also from India and have applied to buffalo. I had the same problem. I sent the transcripts (Duplicate Marksheets issued by my university) and not in sealed university envelopes. It was accepted. Go ahead and do that. They know this problem with Indian universities.

Has any one else applied using just copies of transcripts from universities in India and not in sealed envelopes? I have a MS degree from US for which I can easily get sealed copies. Please let me know.

Two suggestions:

1) Call Buffalo and ask what to do;

2) Send the original transcripts with your application, even if they aren't in a sealed envelope, and include with your application proof that you have requested the sealed transcripts to be sent to Buffalo. That way, Buffalo immediately gets your transcripts, but if that doesn't satisfy them, at least they'll know the sealed envelope is on its way.

(that's what I would do, but listen to more experienced people before making a decision - ideally, call Buffalo and ask)

Of course they cannot be so strict about it, I mean, if you come from a university that does not issue transcripts in english or french, someone will have to open that envelope to translate the documents...

There are many questions on the forums where users are asking for procedure to obtain official transcripts.

Normally most Indian universities provide transcripts for that one needs to submit the following documents:

1. Official transcript application form
2. Xerox copies of the marks sheets
3. DD in favour of Finance officer of the university. The fee varies from university to university.

It takes anywhere between 6 working days to 15 working days to issue official transcripts.

well, you can make application at your university and your university will issue a transcripts in sealed and stamped envelope to you or other institutes like WES, ICES, IQAS. You can hire any agency who can handle everything on your behalf. I had applied through mail transcripts. you can check their website. They can help you.
