Hi,

I'm looking to apply for Master's in Computer Science/Software Engg. I've done my Bachelor's of Engg (Computer Science) in 2010. But the problem is that I only scored about 53% in the degree. So, are there any universities available (esp in Toronto or any other state where IT field jobs are more) which would accept lower GPA/percentage student & any of these universities accept students for Jan session?

Rest of my profile, 10th 74% 2004, 12th 73% 2006, IELTS 7.5 & I've worked as web developer (PHP) for 1 year, then started freelancing/working with local company on JAVA projects. I intend to work as software developer (JAVA) after my MS.

Thanks.

Thanks bro. Will get in touch with admission cells of both universities (Although quick search indicates that Ryerson Uni doesn't offer Master of Science in Computers, will dig deeper into it)

Anyone else like to recommend more universities? Would like to contact as much universities as I can.

what course do you intend to apply to?

Try U of sasketchwan for a number of reasons;
1- easier to get admission
2- fastest growing province economically in Canada (easy to get job especially in fertilizer industry)
3- low population, easy to get visa

getting admission in u of manitoba, dalhousie and windsor is also easy, but do good research before applying

Thanks. I'm planning to get MS in Computer/Software Engg.

Any idea what would be the appropriate time to apply for admissions for Jan (I guess deadline is already passed for Jan session) or Sept 2013 session?

Generally the deadline for international students are;

September Intake ----> january - march (of same year)
January Intake ----> May (preceding year)
May Intake ----> October (preceding year)

90% canadian univs only offer admission to students for Fall (September) Intake only....

Dude just go through a couple of univ websites, ull understand the whole process. It is generally the same for all univs in Canada

Carleton and ryerson aren't that easy to get into. In fact, Most universities Atleast look for a threshold grade of 70% in your undergraduate degree to grant you admission into their masters program. Carleton is known for its strict evaluation procedure due to its merger with University of Ottawa-Carleton engineering School. So, You will need to please both schools in order to get into any one of the university. On the other hand , Carleton & Ryerson have the best Aerospace & Mechanical program In Canada while their Software program isn't up to he mark .Well , I'd recommend Waterloo or SFU which houses an acclaimed C.S/Software degree and I'm sure they don't go by the grade. They browse through your academic profile and look for projects abd experience rather than scores. Well , I'm leaving it up to you now .

I m applying for post graduate program at ryerson Univ.canada but there is 10 years of gap since I completed my masters in comp science in 2007. In this case it is difficult to approach professors who taught me. Should I get my letter of recomendation signed by my employer or is it must to be signed by someone from My university?
