INTENT: I plan to come and settle in Canda from India with my wife.

BACKGROUND: I am BTech Mechanical Engineer (DGPA:8.5/10) (2010), with almost six years of experience and a year of independent consulting on application engineering. Also, I have ample experience in B2B marketing experience. But I intend to change careers as I feel I have had enough of my career.

IELTS : Academic qualified in May 2016 with an average score of 8. (Min:7.5 Max:9) (I applied to Uni's in UK, and got selected in all of them, but I dont want to go there, since the stay back is just 4 months)

Question: [PERMIT] Suppose I do masters from Uni Windsor (MEng-16months), (I have heard getting jobs is difficult, will come to that later). Then I may have to wait for a job for at least six months. So how long will my work permit be? Someone says its 16months from degree; others are saying 3 years from degree? Which is correct?

Questions : Anybody studying in Uni Windsor reading this? If so, the university sucks I know. Part time jobs are scarce, CoOp is very limited and very few get in, the education is mediocre, and they are a money grabbing institute. So how are you guys doing there? Is it so difficult it's not worth it to invest 40K CAD in it? Are you guys learning anything there or is the whole experience like any of the mushroom colleges in India? Are you paying just for a valueless degree?

Queation : Students are waiting for months after graduating, to get placed. 6-8 Months. Is it still worth it ? What say ?

Hi there!!
As you already know the situation of University of Windsor, I wonder why are you still planning to go there!! And it is not at all any difficult to get admit from University of Windsor!! I am not studying nor planning to study there though. Your qualification is very good, so you should be considering better options. There are plenty of universities with good co-op program and less fees, should try them! :)

Will depend on your graduation letter and the mood of the VO. If the graduation letter says you did a 2 years course, you'll get 3 years work permit. But some VOs are a bit smarter and they check your transcript and seeing you only studied 16 months, they give you 16 months work permit. So best go for an official 2 year program.

People pay to go to Canada to get their work permit, and then PR. Plain and simple. And if you learn a few things along the way, that's an added bonus

Jobs other than in IT are not easy to come by. Shouldn't be a problem for you since you have prior work experience and your IELTS score would suggest that you can speak sentences containing a subject, verb and object all at the same time :p

PS: Personal Opinion, go for better universities. Tuition fee for all canadian universities is in the range of 28k to 36/40k, In the long run that's not a big difference
