University of Regina is a small university that accepts around 30 student per year based on a selection criteria that is very tough and complex. And now with so many applicants it has become more tough.
Recently, I attended an international students meet at UofR, I came to know that 15 international students were admitted for Fall 2012 and 4 students for Winter 2012. I am telling this so that you get an idea about the competition in the university and also have some backup plans.
But,on the other hand it is a very good university and anyone who gets admission in it is lucky and will surely have a good future ahead in Canada specially the ones in Oil and Gas industry.

HOLD FILE FOR NEXT DEPT INTAKE - This means that you have applied early. Your application will be sent to the department for review no sooner than the posted deadline. There is nothing further you need to do.

PENDING DEPT/FACULTY REVIEW - This means that your application is still under review by the department. We have no information regarding your application, and do not know how long they will take to review the applications. We are unable to provide any information at this point.

RETURNED, PENDING FINAL REVIEW - This means that your application has been returned to the Grad Studies office, and the Associate Dean reviews your application and approves the department's decision. This process may take 1 to 2 weeks. We are unable to provide any information to you at this point.

ACCEPTED - this means that you have been accepted to the program and you will receive your admission letter with further instructions shortly

CONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE - this means that you have been accepted, however you must submit some outstanding documents before you will be eligible to register. You will receive your admission letter outlining the condition and with further instruction shortly

do u mean to say that its more tough to get admission for winter session as compared to fall session as i have applied for winter session :S
