University of Manitoba, Jan 2014 intake

Hi there,
I was admitted to University of Manitoba as an undergraduate transfer student in Computer Science. I would basically start at year 2 of their Bachelor program. I'm still waiting for the visa though. How about you? What's your major? Did you get admitted? Visa? From which country? I'm applying from the US, but I'm originally from Tunisia.
Please share your experience and maybe we can get in touch if we both get there at the same time, in which case I'll be looking for a roommate!

Hi, I got admit to master of engineer in mechanical. I am from India, done with visa and ill be landing next week.

Im yet to experience things. Good to know that u r also coming to umanitoba, hardly people apply there.
 
@kiranreddy3399 That's funny, I got admitted to the same universities as you (uSaskatchewan and uManitoba) and chose uManitoba like you. It's just the cheapest of the top 20 universities in Canada, and life in Winnipeg is much cheaper than Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal. That was my reasoning.

Please remember to share your first impressions of the city and the university, where/how you find rent etc.
 
Why did you choose Canada over USA?

U went for non thesis M.engg in Mech?? If so wat is d tuition nd duration of d course??

Good question. The answer is : because Canada offers a 3-year work permit for graduates, which makes it very easy to get a permanent residence, whereas the US only have a 1-year work permit, called the OPT, which doesn't lead to a Green Card.
There are many other reasons, but this is the most important one.

Hi Imran,

yes for Meng mech.....tuition fee is $9500 for 1st year, not sure of 2nd year.....duration 2 years
