Best is to wait until you get the instructions from the VO... because if you decide to go for a new medical and in the meantime your VO has asked for an extension, then it will probably create confusion... if you wait, you will see what the preference is from the VO - now that there is the possibility of extension, it's best to wait in my opinion.
Good luck,

Thanks. I might have asked the question wrong. what i meant was if it takes more time to wait for an answer after the VO has asked to redo the medical, or it takes more time to wait for an answer when the VO is requesting to their office to extend the medical. Because ive heard that it takes few weeks when the VO is extending automatically your medical. So i wanted to know which takes longer...

I'm not sure anybody can answer that, as the VO won't inform you (from what I read here) that they have requested the extension of medicals, and when ( unless you order the GCMS notes) - you will just know, if by the time your medicals have expired, and you have not been asked for a new one, then probably there is an extension request - if that's the only thing preventing the VO to issue your visa.

Thank you so much . :)

Hello JesustheSavior,

I can tell you med-extension is longer then re-medial, my case was re-medical (Oct-28-2012) and another forum member was offered an med-extention. My re-med file was received in SVO November 5, 2012. and the forum member still waiting. I hope this will give you some idea of timing.

Gook Luck,

Hi bold9900, thank u so much for this info.

Hi, looks that remed or extension depends on the VO. But timeline, it depends even more on them.
