So I was thinking of starting this up, as I saw many people were struggling to find "real and convincing" proof of their relationship, especially if you are applying inland (no phone bills, no letters etc) One thing I noticed is that we did not have many pics of us together (we take pics of each other and do no own a tripod =)).
So what I am thinking of doing is creating a collage of these pics with captions. Plus I am printing out the facebook "timeline" (the new front page) as it has all of the pictures plus comments and likes from family and friends (extra bonus: they all have actual dates!!!).
In addition I will get a letter from the animal shelter we volunteer at as a couple (same day same time), to show that we do have a social life (hmmm well may be not so social, but we like it =))

So what are your guys' great flashes of genius when it comes to the proofs? Share and be creative my friends!!!!

I just sent the pictures we took while we were dating, little trips we did together, our big trip to Brazil, our wedding and after wedding. His family and mine are in the pictures. I sent it all in order and under each picture I wrote where it was taken and who was in the picture. I put it on word and printed it out. We sent a letter talking about our relationship and his parents wrote one too. Oh we sent the copies of his Brazilian visa and stamps showing he went there to visit me and meet my entire family... that was about it!

We are applying outland via Mexico City and I live here now but we are sending our home phone and cell phone records (from when we've been apart). Receipts for big purchases (stuff for house; stove, paint etc.) 2 rental contracts from vacation homes we've stayed at. My airplane tickets from my trips to Mexico when I didn't live here. I created a story board with photos using microsoft word. Basically put all the photos I wanted to send into a word document and told the story of our relationship through that. Including facebook status updates, our joint bank account, bank statements, paper that outlines my beneficiary for my health insurance. Letters that friends/family have sent us and other things that prove our address together.
and of course letters of support from friends/family that back us up that our relationship is in fact genuine. :)
I do also have a million pages of our text messages printed but i think we are going to leave those out as half are spanish, have english. :)

I was thinking that someone can post some totally out of the box proofs that they came up with.

Another thing I found, and I think it gives a lot of weight to our application is the adoption certificate for our second dog, where we both are mentioned as adopters (guardians/staff/poopscoopers).

I don't know if they will appreciate it, but for us it was a big day, so in my mind it is proof. I heard a story about one couple who divorced and had a custody battle over their dog in actual court!!! =))

Anyway, I was thinking of starting a fun/light/not stressed out thread

Cheers, Itsy

In my opinion, OFFICIAL sharing of properties is a very solid proof of any relationship (whether spouse or common-law). A good example of this is a joint bank account or a house registered under the names of the two partner. It means a full trust between the two partners and such trust only comes after genuine relationship of any kind.

Sorry I disagree. Financial or material things in my opinion are weak. Anyone can have their names on a piece of paper. I think genuine pics, regular correspondance etc are just as good examples of proof. Me n my husband dont have joint accts, I dont have my name on his car title..so is our relationship not genuine?

We printed out our wedding website. The pages included details of our wedding (including our page on what to wear to the beach), our story as written by us to our family, and the guestbook page with well wishes from our friends and family :)

My husband and I entered a contest with a Canadian jewelry store where we wrote a small story of our love and had friends and family vote for us...we came first place in Canada and won a 1 carat beautiful diamond engagement ring that I wear proudly everyday.

We got over 5000 votes in just under 2 months...our friends and family could vote once a day from ad many email addresses that they have... Now if that isn't some sort of proof Id be lost for words.

We included our thank you email to everyone we know and also submitted the responses...

Regardless of it being proof or not we have this story to tell our kids one day and the ring I wear everyday is a result of everyone that loves and supports us....there is s much meaning to it above and beyond it being my engagement ring.

That is soooooo cute! I would have loved to have seen the story! What an awesome idea

Wow, I think that's proof, plus it is brilliant!!! =)) Such a romantic story.

I photocopied my guestbook as well, even the pages at the end where once all the elders had left and everyone started drinking and my husbands friends started drawing pictures, writing craziness lol..it was pretty funny.

Doodles are a great proof in my mind ...
Families that laugh together, stay together ... unlike those grouchy ones =))

LOL I even sent emails of me and my spouse that were in half bengali and english haha, but your supporting documents seem foolproof! good luck

We also adopted a dog together and in my letter we talked how she brightens our loves and there is a picture of us posing proudly with out adorable Maia!! :) I think having a dog is a big commitment and it brings us together every day. We go out for walks together, every weekend we take her to the park and when it's warm and sunny she's always a great excuse to take us out the house!!!
