Unauthorized work with children

Hello,
I have a study permit that allows me to work in Canada but that restricts the fields in which I’m allowed to work (healthcare, childcare). Well I thought that the restriction about childcare and education only applied to teachers and caregivers, so I started working part-time as a tutor in a tutoring agency (not even a school). I worked there for 2 months before finding out I wasn’t allowed to do so and immediately quit my job. I even went to have a medical exam to get the condition removed. My problem is that in order to get this condition removed, I need to submit a new application in which I have to mention my work experience. Should I mention those 2 months? I’m afraid I could lose my status and get a 6-month ban because of this unauthorized work. If I don’t mention it and just put “student” as my occupation at the time, is there any way they could find out? Has anyone been in a similar situation, working in an unauthorized field? I’m really scared now, I don’t know what to do.
Thanks!

If you are honest about your mistake it is usually overlooked. In general in these situations Canada usually rewards people for being honest and upfront versus trying to hide things. Would include the same explanation as you have posted here.

Hello,

I would like to know if you could solve this situation. I am facing a similar situation right now. I do not have the restriction but I am babysitting for a couple of hours during the week. Do I still need to get the medical exams??

Thanks,

Hi Canuck ! I have the same pbm. I worked for a month and a half full time as a day camp facilitator (animator?) this summer and I did the equivalent of 5 replacement days between August and October. As soon as I realized that I was doing something that I might not have the right to do, I immediately called my employer to tell him that I would not come back to work until I had resolved this situation. Being in the last year of teacher training, I need to do elementary school internships and I don't know if I should change my license and pass the medical exam for it. If yes, my question is: do I first write to IRCC to explain the situation in detail and apologize ? Or should I write all of this on the new application form? Also, is it considered an offense (infrcation) to have done this work? (Cause in the form to change the Visa, they ask if we have already committed an offense)
I'm afraid that I will be excluded from the country or that I will be refused my next permit/visa..

Are you a student and able to work but just needed to get the condition of working with children removed?

Yes ! Well, I think that i need to get the condition removed to do my (i don't know how to say on english but in french its) "stage" in a elementary school. And the most important, i think i have to tell to the immigration that i did this work. But i don't know what is the best way to do that...

The international office of the University of Ottawa advised me to wait 6 months before applying for a license modification and to say that I had done this work (concerning article R221 paragraph R200 (3) of immigration law). But 6 months is a lot and i'm very stressed..

Did you call the immigration ? Explain that you don’t have this restriction and your permit, didn’t do the medical exams and just ask if you can work with children.
I decided to send a request to modify my work permit (form 5710) and be 100% honest. So I did the medical exams just before and I added a letter to explain all the situation about the unauthorized work and to apologize. Now i’m waiting with fingers cross...
