COPR was granted in November and passport was requested. My husband is in the military in Tehran and cannot submit his passport until after his medicals expire. Originally embassy said that was fine he could do new medicals but now they are saying no medicals needed and he has send his passport as requested if not a new sponsorship can be done on his behalf. We are very confused with what this means? Any help?

Really? They have not told us that. They actually don’t give us any dates. They are just asking for the passport so they can issue the visa. The original medicals will expire in April 2020. So if he sends the passport now will they give him a visa that expires in April?

They just sent us an email that the validity of the visa will not be extended. But no dates have been given. We are very confused.

It is so unjust. He is stuck there for military service and the immigration officer will not allow an extension just for a few months. They want us to do an entire new application!

Hi Mariam,
keep in mind that even He submit his Passport has to land before medical expired, which April, 2020. It's tough situation to be. Best bet it will be to ask to Reapply. Good luck

You can try contacting your MP to see if they are willing to help.

Otherwise, it would appear IRCC is not granting any extensions, as they usually don't, and he will either have to submit his passport on time or re-apply.

We did contact the MP and yes no extension. We will try and submit his passport but I think they will only issue the visa until April when his medicals expire. Not sure as they have not given an exact date.

If we do have to reply does anyone know how long the process is and if it will be exactly the same as starting from the beginning?

If you re-apply it is the same as starting from the beginning. It may go slightly faster since you've already been approved, but you are essentially restarting.

Yes, I think we will have to though as they are not granting an extension even to the MPs. My immigration consultant said it should be faster and we should still get approved as nothing in our situation as changed. But you never know!
