Unable to hit Magic Number 8777

Hello All,

I have been quite unlucky with IELTS. I have taken the exam 4 times (in past 6 months) with British Council and my band has always been 7.5 or 8, however, I have never hit the magic number 8777. It is always short by .5 mark in one section or the other. I am pretty confused about what to do now. Any suggestions?

did you ever try for re-marking ?? if any one of the module is short of 0.5 or even 1 band, remarking is the way to go

Thanks for your response! I have not tried that yet because i was told that it generally doesn't lead to any score change. This time I have got a 7.5 in Listening and rest all are above 7. Will you suggest a re-evaluation in this case?

i have seen it for writing where 6.5 or even 6 was increased to 7
for listening , i prefer not to go for it, there is 1 mark for every answer so how would you increase your score for Listening or Reading ?? i think you can not.

Brother, welcome to the club.

A lot of people are stuck with writing by getting 0.5 or 1 less. Unfortunately, the only way is to study again and resit. You should only go for remark in either speaking or writing, but you must be confident you did well to deserve the increase. If you know you did bad, there's no point wasting time and money.

I am going to apply for eor tomorrow

Anybody got .5 increase in speaking module ?

i have seen speaking and writing being increased from 6.5 to 7 so you should apply for eor
contact your designated authority (British Council or AEO)
