Unable to get reference letter from first employer

Hi,

I am currently working with my third employer. And this is the NOC i have primarily applied in.

I was trying to get reference letters for my other two experiences (different NOCs). I am having problem getting the reference letter from my first employer. I have the appointment letter, and the service letter, but it doesn't show my duties. They do not provide any such letters. I came across a post on the internet, where they mentioned that in this case and affidavit from the applicant stating the duties he /she performed, signed by notary can be sufficient, provided both appointment letter and service letter are attached with it.

Any comments? I have made the affidavit and i plan to mention the situation in LOE. Will that be fine?

If the company won't issue a letter with duties, you can ask a colleague to write a reference on plain white paper and have that notarised.

It has been a long time since i left, all my colleagues who were with me are abroad. I dont know any body there anymore, who could vouch for me. Or I will have to ask some ex-colleague who has also left? I am not sure if that is acceptable.. If not, should i continue with solemn affirmation on affidavit?

Please let me know

They do not want to provide you such a letter because they don't want to spend resources elsewhere.

If I were you, I would write to HR and CC manager; given that you left on good terms.

Please do your due diligence and type the letter yourself, feel free to use the template and have them stamp/sign with company's letter head

I left for higher studies, and hence I left on an urgent notice. I wont call it good terms though. Plus, it is a strategic organization, the HR has a very strict format. My manager has also left for abroad after resignation. Should i contact him? But the letter he will provide will not be on the organization letterhead as he has also left.

The solemn affirmation is not acceptable?

The bolded part was already answered, you can get it in plain paper and notarize it.

Hi wow777,

We couldn't get an employer letter from a previous workplace of my wife.

As per our Immigration Consultant the way is that for any employer letter that you are not able to receive a letter, you have to put this in a letter and describe the valid reasons and your best effort why could not obtain the employer letter. The letter must be addressed to CIC and presented in a formal layout. Letter must be signed and the document will have to be uploaded in its place.

cheers

I know the notarized document is legal and all but how would a notary verify that the document is in fact legitimate? Also how would CIC verify that it is legitimate? In fact I also have the same problem. My ex-supervisor gave me a reference letter on plain paper and the company is giving me too much trouble in giving anything on letterhead. So I am kind of stuck in the middle.

The person who is writing the letter acts kind of witness to your job duties (the same way a person acts as guarantor for a loan, in case you don't pay, the guarantor is held liable to pay the dues), in this scenario notary will base their validation on the witness's (you ex-colleague) sworn statement.
Upload his business card as well.

Speaking of notarisation, my company wants an immigration lawyer to send them a letter explaining the reason for requesting the reference letter, since they want to do it all very 'legally'. Now I don't have any immigration lawyer hired for this. So can I just write the explanation letter myself and get it notarised?

Tell them if they don't do it you'll quit, problem solved.

Thanks all!!!

I will then ask my ex manager to write my reference letter on a plain paper (since my manager has also left) and I will get it notarized. Hopefully this should solve the problem.

Actually it's one of my previous companies. So they have the upper hand in this case.

Can we include T4 showing we actually worked for past employer 2 years back ?? what can we show for employment records?

1-offer letter
2-pay stub
3-tax return

Can I include all of them?
