I’m a UK Citizen wanting to get a work visa for Toronto. I want to live and work there for awhile at least. First hurdle seems to be that I need to pay £200 to certify I can speak English. Has anyone one else from the UK had to do this? Seems odd given I was born in England

If you want to come to Canada on a temporary work permit, then no English language test is required.

If you want to apply to immigrate to Canada and become a PR, then the language test is mandatory regardless of where you were born. Yes, everyone from the UK has to do this.

How old are you? What type of visa? For PR, everyone has to show proof of English or French. Doesn’t matter if from an English speaking country.
