Hi,

I am currently exploring options for immigration to Canada and have become overwhelmed! I hope somebody can point me in the best direction.

I am a UK Citizen and my partner is a Canadian Citizen and she is sponsored by me as Unmarried Parter in the UK. We currently run a small business (from home) in England and my partner is employed by me.

Business opportunities have arisen in Canada and we are currently here to explore these (Windsor, ON) which has so far proven to be successful. Though, this would require me to spend most of the year in Canada - up to 9 months.

Before agreeing to this I want to make sure I am compliant with all immigration requirements.

As far as I can see these are my options:

1. Multiple Business Visitor Visa e.g. 2-3 times a year -Is there a limit to how many times I can do this as long as I return back to the UK every time?

2. Get my partner to sponsor me - The eligibility looks similar to the UK but the source of her income is from the UK. Is this a problem? Since we aren't a rush I understand it is better to apply from outside Canada. However, can we submit the Sponsor Eligibility Form from inside Canada or should I wait until I get back to the UK in December?

3. Business Start Up Visa - CIC site says "To be eligible for the start-up visa, you must be accepted into one of the following designated Canadian business incubator programs". Can I start up a 2nd company in Canada which is effectively a mirror of our UK company? We have been accepted on UK incubator programs so we are familiar with the process. It is an Industrial Chemical R&D company.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Russell

You're best best is for your sponsor to apply outland and wait it out in the U.K. yoOur partner does not require an income to sponsor you but you will need to have a plan of how to survive in Canada financially and intent to return E.G. job offer, apartment, letters from family and friends saying that you are returning. Join us on the London outland thread. You will get a lot more help there.

Thanks for the response and I will follow the London Outland Forum.

In the meantime is ok to return on the Business Visitor Visa? E.g. 2 times a year and up to 9 month total stay.

Thanks again.

You will most likely need a work permit and approved LMIA (rather than just a business visa) if you're looking at spending 9 months out of a year in Canada.
