UK residents seeking Working Holiday Visa. WHERE ARE YOU IN WAITING LIST?!

My girlfriend and I are both from the UK and have both received a notice of submission saying that we're on the waiting list.
Is anyone else in the same boat?
They issue 5350 visas.
From our world tracking numbers, it looks like we're number 5679 and 5733 in the queue respectively.
We want to know how likely it is that we'll get in.
I've messaged IEC through my Kompass account login, but they won't give me any idea of how likely it is we'll get in.
It's understandable, because it's hard to tell how many people might back out, but doesn't really help us make plans...
Has anyone else been on the waiting list and got in? If so, how far down the queue were you initially?
I.e. if whoever has world tracking number ending 5675 has just now got accepted, then that bodes well for us.
However, if whoever has number 5355 is still waiting, then we might as well give up now and get a visa fro New Zealand instead!
Any advice would be great!
Cheers
Nick

Hi Nick,
Me and my girlfriend are in the same situation as you. But 'due to a technical difficulty' are applications were misplaced by the sounds of it, and processed wrong. Our WTNs are up in the 7000s so not much hope really. Keep posted on how you get on with your application.
All the Best,
Jamie

Edit: also is there any other visa I could get? whats the eligability for a work permit, rather than the working holiday visa?

To qualify for a work permit, you first need to find an employer in Canada who is willing to offer you a job. That employer must then obtain an approved Labour Market Opinion.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/employers/lmo-basics.asp

Before applying for the LMO, the employer must advertise the job for at least a month to prove that no Canadian could be hired for the position.

Once you have a job offer and approved LMO, you can apply for a work permit.

Ok, thanks for your replies folks.
Sounds doubtful we'd be eligible for a work permit then. As useful as we are, I'm not sure there are any jobs we can do that no other Canadians can...
Fingers crossed for the waiting list. I've checked my messages and we've not heard anything yet. Afraid to say it Jamie, but it sounds like you've not got a chance with the working holiday visa if your numbers are in the 7000s.
My girlfriend and I applied last year during the second round and the website kept jibbing out and wouldn't even let us start filling out the form. The site worked for the 3rd round, but we missed the boat. Bit gutted that it looks like we've missed out again this year.
Was very frustrating that we missed the first 2 rounds this year. There was very little information about when the rounds would be. Last year the 1st round was in february. This year it was in December!
A little more warning about the dates would have been nice... We were checking on the website in November and there was no news on when the dates would be. Based on last year, we thought the 1st round would be in January at the earliest. We checked again in late December and we'd missed the first 2 rounds :(
It would appear that if you miss the first 2 rounds, you don't stand a chance in the 3rd round. Other people have already half filled out the form in the earlier rounds and will pip you to the post on the 3rd round.
