PLEASE HELP !!! PLEASE HELP !!! PLEASE HELP !!! PLEASE HELP !!! PLEASE HELP !!! PLEASE HELP !!! PLEASE HELP !!!

I am a UK resident, with Canadian citizenship, gained through my mother, born in Halifax NS. I have never lived in Canada, but would like to move there this summer. We have sold our house and have funds to purchase in Ontario.
Is this time scale possible based in the following information...

I have applied for citizenship for my two sons born in the UK. (Sent Sept 08)
Q1 - Does this need to be approved prior to moving?

I also have a wife and daughter who require sponsorship.
Q2 - Do I have to apply from UK, or can we move to Canada and apply there?
Q2.1 - If from the UK, does this need to complete prior to moving?

I am sure I will have more questions so please help, we appreciate all the advice we can get.

Many Thanks

Pre-Assessed..
Q1: No, you can ask the embassy if they would like you to apply for temporary Canadian passports for them, otherwise they can just travel on their British passports.

Q2: You can move to Canada and apply from there. If you apply from the UK, you will have further burden of proof that you are planning to move to Canada when they get their PR. If you are already in Canada, you don't but be aware that your wife can not work for a few months.

If you apply outland through London, whether you are already in Canada or not, average time for her to get the PR is 5 months but could be from 4 to 10. If you apply inland in Canada, she could have an open work permit by 6 or 7 months but PR much later as well as it would not be advisable for her to travel while doing an inland application.

Also look at the job market before you go. Ontario is not necessarily the best province economically. Depends on what you do. Do not make the mistake of buying a house and settling down before knowing if you can get a job in that area. Check out http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/

Thanks for your prompt response, I left it a few days hoping someone would respond.

Please can you advise on the following scenario then....
If I move to Canada with my citizenship regsiter for a S.I.N. and start work in April.
Can my wife and the 3 children move in the summer to start schooling in September? (My daughter is not eligible for citizenship through me and requires sponsorship).
Or do they risk the chance of being sent home if our application for PR is not through in the 6 months from landing.

I agree that it would seem easier to justify me being a sponsor, when I actually live and work in Canada, however I would not want to see my family sent back to UK after 6 month visitor rights were complete.

Some say apply here and wait, but time is critical, we are prepared to be in different countries for 2 to 4 months, but would not want to be apart much longer.

Cheers

They would not be sent home. When their 6 months are close to expire and there is no word of the sponsorship yet, you can apply for an extension for them to stay. Knowing that they are waiting for sponsorship, it's very unlikely that they would be denied an extension but even if, processing extension takes something like 3 months so by that time, you would have your sponsorship done. Start your sponsorship application as soon as you move, then by the time they arrive, it should be well on it's way.

Hi all,

Sorry had problems with my broadband provider, and not been on for a while.

Thanks for your help and information Leon, it is all being taken on board

One quick question for you though.

When I land in Canada prior to my family to find work I will not have a return flight to the UK, as I am a citizen I am assuming that this is not a problem.
Do you know what forms / details I have to complete to state that I am now planning on residing in Canada permanently? (landing details)
Or will me registering for a SIN cover it.

Yours Appreciatively
