Hi I am a 25 year old UK resident and I want to work, live and travel in Canada.

I see that I can get a year long visa which allows me to work and travel all over Canada. However I would like to stay there longer than a year or possibly permanent. Is there an option for this once I am in Canada on the working visa or do I need to get a job and visa sorted before I go?

I have family (uncle and cousins) who are Canadian citizens and several friends over there who are also citizens.

I would be grateful for any help.

Thank you.

I live here now, I moved from the uk last year, the English people I've met came on a 1 year visa and have extended it for another year whilst they ave been here! You can deco do it for 2 years! Good luck, great place to live and work!!!

Thank you.

If you wish to immigrate to Canada and remain her permanently, you will have to apply under one of the immigration programs listed in the link below. I would recommend you spend some time reviewing each of these options to determine if there are any you might qualify under.

The one year open permit is a good way to get your foot in the door. Once in Canada, you should do your best to find a skilled job and forge a relationship with an employer to the point that they will help you stay when your work permit is up. The employer can apply to sponsor you through a provincial nominee program for example or apply for a regular work permit for you which would allow you enough time to get 2 years of full time work which would allow you to apply yourself under Canadian experience class.
