Hi Folks,

First of all I would like to appreciate you guys for patiently going through all the posts and answering them... It really helps people like me to get our confusions cleared..!! :)

The confusion I have is somewhat strange. Hope you guys help me with the resolution

I was in London, UK on a WP from 4th Sep 2013 till 23rd Feb 2014. However I travelled for my marriage vacation outside UK from 24th Jan 2014 till 19th Feb 2014.
As per the PCC creteria, a person has to stay for continuous 6 months or longer in an overseas country.

I am confused, if I do require a PCC from UK police (as I have not stayed for continuous 6 months) as it will cost me 100 CAD and may put my application on hold if the VO requires.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks ;)

For anyone whose official residence in a country is 6 months or more, a PCC is required. The number of days of temporary absence (your marriage/ vacation) will not be subtracted from the 6 months and is still treated as continuous stay because primary residence/contact is still the same address even while you are away on a vacation. In your case, despite your vacation, the dates indicate you have stayed in UK only for 5 months and 20 days. Well short of 6 months continuous stay. So I don't think you need a PCC from UK.

Thanks autumnsummer71 for the detailed explanantion. :) :)

I do remember that one has to fill only the month and year of overseas stay for e.g. in my case it would be 09/13 to 02/14.

So this way, It looks like I have completed 6 months of stay. What is your opinion..??

Thanks

Travel history, Address history, Work history are the places you enter duration information. I think based on the address history only they come to know (also your passport stamping pages) that you have stayed X years, y months, z days in a country. Address history allows you to enter specific from and to dates with year, month and date information. So I wouldn't be worried.

I stayed exactly 6 months. Not 1 day more not 1 day less. Exactly 6 months. I didn't want to take a chance and I got one. Its up to you. It appears you are very worried because of this edge case. If you don't mind 100 CAD then you can go for it. It will give you tremendous peace of mind and saves you tension otherwise you will be thinking about it until the VO approves it and tension can last for several months. :)

I had to get a UK PCC and it was very quick and easy. It got to Jamaica in 6 days from the date they dispatched it though regular post. You can do it online, just read the instructions.

I stayed for 11 months in UK and so, I'm going to apply for PCC. Could you please tell me how much it costs in pounds and how long it takes to get it?

Go to www.acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx

All the information you need is there.
