Im a UK citizen thinking of moving to Canada in 09 , i have no criminal record in the UK and i currently live in Holland . I was deported from the US in 06 and given a 10 year bar where i have a violation on my criminal record . I understand i dont need a visa to enter Canada , if i want to work Freelance can i adjust this after entering if i find some employees ? Also how long can i stay on my UK passport ? .

You can stay up to 6 months as a visitor but you need to have a work permit if you plan to work. You were already banned from the US, don't want to get banned from Canada too, do you?

You can look into http://www.bunac.org/ working holiday visa for one year. Otherwise read up on Canada immigration at http://www.cic.gc.ca/

Do you know if i can adjust my status after i get there though ? ie visitor status to work visa . Im trying to follow the rules a bit more these days you know .

You have to leave the country to get a work permit issued. Most people just go to the US border but I guess that is out for you.

You are inadmissible to Canada as both a visitor and an immigrant. You cannot apply for rehabilitation until 5 years after the completion of the sentence, which would be March 2015.
