Hi all
I sent in my inland spousal application last week.
My quesrions:
1. How long will it take before I receive a UCI number?
2. How do I know when cic OPENS my application?

Hi Joey,

Did you apply inland or outland? The CIC page here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp gives you a general idea of Sponsor assessment times. You should expect AOR along with the sponsorship approval typically, so these times are a good estimation. If nothing is missing from your application, you will likely not hear anything until the sponsorship approval process is complete. At that time you will receive UCI and file #'s in a confirmation (hopefully via email, but sometimes via snail mail). However, you may not be able to log into you eCas file online for sometime after that (they are not great about updates, but usually they do them on a Tuesday).

For a better idea of timelines through the process, look for a thread regarding the visa office that you will be processed through if applying outland, or join the inland applicants thread. You will find google docs that the forum users create to better capture everyone's processing times, which can help you understand each step along the way, and approximately where you are. Of course every case is different, it isn't first come first served as you will see, but it does help prepare you.
