UCI Number

When filling out my profile for Express Entry in November 2019 I was required to insert an UCI number. I entered the 8 digit VISA number from my passport which has been constant in my last three visas that I assume was the UCI number as it remained unchanged for the last 3 visitor VISAS. However, I logged in to my account today and I notice that my UCI number is not what I would have entered. I'm seing CAN0000********
* represents other numbers. Could this have been changed by IRCC as this is an application for Permanent Residence away from my regular visitor Visa?

Nothing that beings with "CAN0000" is a UCI; the UCI would be on the last line of the text block on the visa in your passport, on the right hand side, above the machine readable type areas. I believe they may be 10 digits now, but yours may have been 8.

Neither the number on your passport nor anything that begins with CAN0000 are your UCI.

This information does not help. I was asked for a NUMBER and only entered a number ALONE. NO LETTERS were entered so why am I seeing CAN0000********?

I don't work for IRCC so I can't tell you what they entered into your application, or even if you're reading the right line. I'm telling you something that begins with CAN0000 is not a UCI as I know it, so I can't answer your question to your satisfaction and I don't know if anyone here could.

Obviously the answer is that IRCC changed something in your file. Whether it matters or not, only IRCC can tell you.

The number starting with CAN is a number automatically generated by the system. Ignore that.

What do you think what's the difference between these 2 UCI's:

• four numbers, a hyphen, and four more numbers (Example: 0000-0000) or
• two numbers, a hyphen, four numbers, a hyphen, and four more numbers (Example: 00-0000-0000)

Any ony advise plz and thanks!
