U.K. Citizens looking to study in Canada.

Hi all,
Question. I'm looking to study in Alberta in September 2018. The course I'm hoping to take runs between sept 2018 and April 2019. It's a two year course. So once the first year of that course is over, can I stay in Canada until the next year begins in September 2019. Also I'm married. I understand that my husband can work while I'm studying but what happens to him when the first year of the course is over? And we are both waiting for the second year of the course to begin?

assuming you get a study permit for the full 2 years sept 2018 through sept 2020 and summer 2019 is a scheduled break you and husband could stay for the duration. Your husband would apply for an open work permit off back of your study permit so the same 2 year duration and could work for the duration as long as you remain enrolled in the 2 year full time course even during the summer 2019 break.

You could work part time 20 hrs week during term time and full time during scheduled breaks such as summer 2019.

Hi, make sure you cover everything in your sop. They will ask why your not studying in your home country. Go over your sop and don't rush sending it in. Its seems harder getting a study permit coming from the UK seems they don't like us ;D. My wife has had three refused, same reasons all the time. We changed our sop three times and were still refused with the same things every time. They were ties to home country and purpose of visit, we even used an immigration service, still didn't work. We have more than enough money that's required for a college place and living expenses, no criminal record, traveled all over the USA and also traveled to Canada, plenty of close family; mum dad etc, in the UK. The wifes boss even wrote a letter saying her job is being kept open till her return. The only thing is that we don't own our home in the UK and it seems that they expect everyone to own property in there country if you look up ties to home country, owning property is no 1. Please don't let this scare you off, I'm just giving you a heads up as its cost me around £10,000 so far and were no closer than when we started. That said, I won't give up. I'm stubborn and we are applying again next month, so fingers crossed. People on here are very helpful and will help if they can. Good luck. ;D

I had 85% in grade 12
TOEFL 104

but didn't have a house and a post-secondary, they refused lmao, but I'm from brazil so is harder, will apply again now with more proofs of incomes and etc will show my parents proprieties in Europe and Brazil, and will apply to a University it seems that they don't like college very much

think you must have been unlucky given plenty of people get a study permit from UK even without owning own house. After all there are plenty of other countries where immigration could question long term intentions other than a UK applicant so can only assume some other reason in the application. I hope your right, we got our caips notes they said the same thing about all refusals even after changing every sop. The only thing we never done was pay the tuition fees upfront, after researching we found that paying your first semester or years fees dramatically helps prove your are a bona fide student. We have paid my wife's first years fees and will be reapplying the end of February, so finger crossed. I would recommend OP looking into this as the immigration company never told us about paying fees upfront and how it helps.
