We are currently in the process of applying for PR in Canada. We are thinking of moving to Vancouver. We've been hearing that taxes in Canada is very high. Can you share with us what are the types of taxes and what is the average tax payout for an average income earners of about $100,000pa?

Check this post it may help you:

You can play with numbers for income tax for each province for year 2009 here

The quick answer is that you'd pay $26,682 in taxes if it were all employment income, and all earned by one person. But there are so many variables that this figure is almost useless. It woudl be lower if the income were split between two people, if part of the income was investment income, etc etc.
