Hi, all fellow applicants! I would greatly appreciate if someone can help me with this:

I have a University diploma (assessed as a one-year Post-secondary certificate by IQAS) & a bachelor degree (assessed as the four-year degree by IQAS). So by having this assessment can I claim "Two or more post-secondary program credentials AND at least one of these credentials was issued on completion of a post-secondary program of three years or longer" which will reward me with 128 points.

Question: For the "Level of Education" selection for each of my credentials, should i choose "two or more certificates, diplomas or degrees or stick to bachelors only?

Thanks in advance to whoever who can enlighten me!

CIC website states following for two degree certificate, diploma;

Important notice: One must be for a program of three or more years.
ECA assessment results:

A three-year or more certificate, diploma, or degree

PLUS any of the results in the sections below (not including secondary/high school), or:

Post-Bachelor's Certificate
Post-undergraduate certificate
Post-Bachelor's Diploma
Post-undergraduate diploma
Graduate Certificate
Graduate Certificate with a focus in [area of concentration]
Postgraduate certificate
Postgraduate Diploma
Graduate Diploma with a focus in [area of concentration]
Graduate diploma
two-year Postgraduate Diploma, specializing in [name of discipline]
two-year Bachelor’s after degree with a focus in [area of concentration]
one-year Postgraduate Certificate in [name of discipline]
one-year of graduate study with a focus in [area of concentration]
Dual Bachelor’s degree (four years)

Question[/b]: If I see the above list, it is not mentioned about the 1-year post-secondary certificate (which I have in addition to four-years degree). However, CIC in its EDUCATIONAL CREDENTIAL ASSESSMENT CONVERSION TABLE says that the Post-secondary educational credentials could also include Post-Bachelor's or Post-Graduate Credentials.

Anyone to please help in this confusion.

You won't get to choose or more degrees while filling your express entry profile. Get ECA for both and you'll add them individually to your profile with each corresponding ECA result. The system will automatically calculate it accordingly. You only choose 2 or more during the questionnaire.

Hello Sameeh87,

You will not see "Two or more" option while creating your Express Entry profile as the same has been removed in one of the system update. Instead, you will have to select your individual credential equivalency for each credential you have and the system will calculate the points automatically. There will be two "level of education" while you enter any credential. The one on the top is your actual home country level of education and the one that comes at the end is "Canadian cquivalency" given by IQAS.

Read this page for a better understanding. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/eca-conversion.asp

For your university diploama choose "One-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute" as Canadian equivalency since your IQAS equivalency of "one-year Post-secondary certificate" falls into that category.

For your bachelor degree choose "Bachelor’s degree or other programs (three or more years) at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute".

Referring to the link you have provided it says:
Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (with spouse) 119
Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (without spouse) 128
Federal Skilled Worker Program factor points (if this applies) 22

Does this mean that I get one loses CRS points if spouse is included?

Hi Lotus,

Thank you so much for the detailed response. I will do the same. Just one more question, do they consider one-year post-secondary certificate coupled with bachelors as two degrees/diploma? I get confused when seeing the following classification as given on the website;

A three-year or more certificate, diploma, or degree

PLUS any of the results in the sections below (not including secondary/high school), or:

Post-Bachelor's Certificate
Post-undergraduate certificate
Post-Bachelor's Diploma
Post-undergraduate diploma
Graduate Certificate
Graduate Certificate with a focus in [area of concentration]
Postgraduate certificate
Postgraduate Diploma
Graduate Diploma with a focus in [area of concentration]
Graduate diploma
two-year Postgraduate Diploma, specializing in [name of discipline]
two-year Bachelor’s after degree with a focus in [area of concentration]
one-year Postgraduate Certificate in [name of discipline]
one-year of graduate study with a focus in [area of concentration]
Dual Bachelor’s degree (four years)

The above list doesn't contain the post-secondary certificate in the area of concentration as assessed by IQAS.

Yes it would. In lieu, however, your spouse will be getting a score in the education (out of 10) based on his/her ECA results

You don't lose points for adding your spouse, you get less points than without spouse because there are points dedicated for your spouse

Yes, it will be considered. It is not the above credentials only.

Do Professional Diplomas from the American University count in immigration?

Hi Guys,
As WES is not considering ptu degree, So I have left with option of evaluating my ECA from IQAS. Now I have a doubt with IQAS evaluation. I have earned 3 year polytechnic diploma from PSBTE and 3 year btech degree from ptu. Though, WES would consider this as 2 degrees. my doubt is whether IQAS will consider it as 2 degree or not?
