Hi guys
I hold open work permit and my employer paid $1000 to help me apply a LMIA and got approved , in my situation am I able to get 600 points or I have to get the other one that is no aplication fee and only for supporting PR
Hope some experts can give me some advice thanks

maomaochong1226- You need to apply for a fresh closed Work Permit because your current open work permit doesn't state you are hired by LMIA conditions. You cannot hold two different WP status at the same time. If you are interested in claiming 600 points then you need to forgo your open WP. And apply for a fresh WP based on your LMIA.
Caveat being, in worst case if your employer sacks you for any reason (market driven) then you will loose your WP and you have to search for a new employer who can sponsor you and in that case you will not be able to go back to your open work permit.

I disagree with the above advice.

You do NOT need to get a new work permit (although, you CAN if/when you need to, since your employer paid the fee for the TWP).

What you need, along with the LMIA, is a written offer of permanent, full-time employment contingent on obtaining permanent resident status.
