HI enfield,

heard of u ... can u help at some point? It's a combination of;

a) 1 year Diploma + 1 year Degree, or

b) 1 year Degree + 1 year PG Diploma/Certificate.

If you meet a) or b), you will get a FULL 3 year PGWP.

if this is the condition , otherwise there is another condition which is my case ...

1. graduating from ETE from NSU I cant apply for diploma ; as VO can say reject by saying overqualified.cant apply for masters cz CGPA is 2.5.I have to apply for PG diploma/certificate. But after completing PG of 1 year; what program I am suppose to take to get a 3 year work permit?

I need suggestions.

I would be glad to get reply.

Hi,

1. Not 'very uncertain', but more a matter of 'insufficient credit hours'.
2. Your one friend (with 1 + 1 PG Certificate = 3 year PGWP), most likely able to earn enough 'credit hours' for a 3 year PGWP (it's very rare for a certificate course to offer that much 'credit hours').
3. To be on a safer side to get a 3 year PGWP either;

:you calculate total credit hours, OR
:eek:pt for a 1 year PG certificate + 1 year Degree course (as suggested by CIC, Canada).

Enfiled , Can you please tell me how Credit hours and Credit points are calculated.

Some say 67 points you can apply for PR, also say some 56 credit hours.

Dear Students,

I have meet several students in Sheridan, Seneca, Fanshawe and other colleges in Ontario during my visit and found the same. As per CIC link mentioned above; it states;

Revised program criteria
Students holding a one‑year graduate degree or diploma from a provincially or territorially accredited post‑secondary educational/training institution in Canada after having obtained, within the prior two years, a diploma or degree from an accredited post‑secondary educational/training institution in Canada may qualify for a three‑year work permit.

* It clearly states degree or diploma in both stages. So a combination of 2 one year diplomas will help you to get 3 year workpermit, providing you meeting the guidelines i.e. full time studies, accredited post-secondary institutions.

Hi,

1. To be on the safe side; Yes.
2. You may also get a 3 year PGWP with 2 consecutive PG Cert/Diploma ONLY IF you get enough 'credit hours' to complete and meet the requirement of a 3 year PGWP (really it's very rare for a cert/diploma course to offer that much credit hours, so to be on the safe side it should be 1 year Degree + PG Cert/Diploma).

So, for the first year it can be 1 year postgraduate certificate and then 1 year master degree, right?

Hi,

1. Your partner (I suppose a married partner) can apply for the OWP (Open Work Permit) based on your study permit. He can apply for the extension of OWP in case you extend your study permit.

What I am going to do is to study two Post graduate certificate programs, one at centennial (the one I am doing right now), and my second post graduate at Seneca.

Some people get a 2 years work permit this way, and other ones get a 3 years work permit.

I am not sure why, but it is not official that is due to the credit hours of the program as far as I know.
