Hey guys. Husband and I got married recently and we must update our application (both applied separately more than two years ago).

How should we go about it?

Should we both update our cases separately?
(I read in the forum of a husband and wife both sending individual family applications. Does this mean there is no problem and this is that allowed?)

or... should we only update one case and cancel the other?

Any suggestions?

Notes: we are bot applying SWF through the simplified process. We only got the AOR so far.

For sure you both have to update the visa office that you are married. Check which one of you gets more points and let him or urself continue as main applicant and the other withdraws. Since you both have applied seperately, I am assuming both of you are qualified. This way, when you club it, one of you will get additional points for adaptability as well.

Thanks.

We were fearing that one of us would have to withdraw our applications.

i guess you dont have to withdraw your applications at this point. just update the visa office that you both are married, send updated forms etc, and then carry on with your applications. later on, you can go with the one which gets you medicals first and withdraw the other one if you want to. this is what my understanding is.

I see what you mean, since we are on the early stage of our process (they have yet to request documents), it would be pertinent to wait and whichever comes first will overrule the other. And, since we both have almost the same professional qualification, it really doesn't matter which one is picked.

I was really concerned about the 'legality' of having multiple applications for a single family. I've been trying to find any impediment... and so far I find none.
