Hi there,

My wife is a US Citizen and a Permanent Resident of Canada.
I've already filed our Canadian taxes and am wondering if TurboTax or TaxAct would be best to file her American taxes.

She only has 1 T4. Nothing else.
She also made less than 20K last year.

Has anyone else done this or have something else to suggest?

I should also point out that we'd be purchasing the American TurboTax software, not the Canadian.

Thanks for any help!

But there are fraud concerns about the software?

Thanks for letting me know about TurboTax.
I somehow missed what happened.

I suppose TaxAct is the way to go unless anyone has experience with any other software.

Hi, NimaM--I used the H&R Block product (I think it's TaxAct) for years in the US and am trying it now for the first time as a CDN PR. The process isn't simple to apply the offsetting credits.
See detailed discussions on these Facebook forums: WSJ Expat and US Expat Tax Questions. And good luck!

I've been using TaxAct, but here is the link to IRS Free File:
