After not being admitted into the Investigative Studies program for fall 2016 at MacEwan in Edmonton because of lacking some the requirements for admission I was advised by a program advisor that mature entry was not an option being an international student so he suggested that I applied for the University Studies International where I could have done high school courses along with some university level courses based upon my goal program I want to do at MacEwan, this reason was the basis on which I accepted to apply for the University Studies International program but I learned recently that the name of the program changed to Academic Pathways and no longer offer the option to do university level courses. I chose to do the program with that option so I could stand a better chance to get into my program of choice at Grant MacEwan (Investigative Studies), however, unfortunately the conditions of the program changed and I was not officially informed of these conditions, I came to know this on my own. The chances are little to none to obtain a study permit to do high school courses at 28 as an international student living outside of Canada.

After careful consideration I came to the conclusion that I will need a refund of the deposit I made. I have read the refund policy on MacEwan's website but there isn't anything about a case like mine where the program condition changed after applying. I trust that I will have my request treated fairly and receive a full refund of my deposit so I can pursue a more fulfilling path towards reaching my academic goals.

I paid 10,000 Canadian dollars and there policy is that I will only get a full refund if cic deny my application for a study permit, otherwise it's 50%.
They have yet to respond to my request via email. I will like to hear the members of the forum take on this issue.

I also wanted to apply to Macewan before but the high tuition deposit pushed me away from the university and I decided not to apply.
Anyways, I suggest you wait for their reply. You deserve a full refund because you were not informed of the program change. Mention that your visa would not be approved for the reason you stated in this post. If all fails and they don't accept (which won't be fair) i suggest you go ahead and apply for the visa and write a strong SOP with your future plans. If your visa got rejected, then the university is obliged to refund your deposit

Thanks for your input, but I could take up other offers that I received instead of going ahead and apply for a study permit with Macewan. It's really depressing to think I may loose so much money unfairly. I will just wait on their response

Oh I didn't know you had other offers. Well yes than definitely wait for their reply.
