so i jst got my bowp and i need to travel outside canada for atleast a month for a family ermergency, im trying to apply it online but after i go thru the steps it shows the generic app from outside canada :s im confused as to how does getting a trv thru online works? i never have done it online so do they jst send u the visa in the mail or do u still need to send the passport separate like when u send it thru mail? and y does it says visit Application for Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa) Made Outside of Canada (IMM5257) m not a visitor permit holder

I would say call cic and ask them , and that visitor thing sounds weird. And m pretty much sure you need to send passport , I don't think Canada supports evisa like Australia.

I would suggest you apply for TRV by paper.

I understand that the current processing time shows that online is 14 days, but paper is 21 days. However, if you apply online, your application will be processed in 14 days, then they will ask you to submit the passport for stamping, which will take ~ 2 weeks (mailing to Ottawa, processing visa stamp and returning passport back to you). This makes the online option a bit longer than paper based.

This is my suggestion, but it is completely up to you. If you decided to apply by paper, this link gives you all the forms you need to fill out:

So i went thru the chklist for applicants in canada, do i need to fill up the form Schedule 1 – Application for Temporary Resident Visa [IMM 5257 – Schedule 1] ? and i thought the 14 days includes sending the application and then passport.
