Hello everyone,

Actually i live at Red Deer, Alberta and I will expected to go to the port of entry. I don't know which is better Coutts or Carway but this is not the real question.

My TRV Visitor was expired last week 16/12/2013 and this week i got my LMO to get a new Work Permit. So I already sent a new work permit request on CIC website (IMM5710 - 18 November 2013).

This is my story:

I arrived from France to Canada with EIC Holiday Visa Permit on 10/17/2012 and my Permit is expired last 10/16/2013. One week after I decided to get a new Temporary Resident Visa - Visitor and I payed $200 because I have to restore my status and I have to waited until 50 days to get an answer.

Then I found a new job in Red Deer with LMO and after that I sent a new Work Permit Visa application (IMM5710) on CIC Website the 11/18/2013 and I have to payed $150 for the permit + $200 for the restoration of status again.

After the 11/30/2013 I received my new TRV-Visitor and this one is valid until 12/16/2013, but now we are the 12/22/2013 and my TRV-Visitor was expired.
So actually this is the delay for the processing times for the new work permit:

" Work Permit (new employer) | Online Processing: 20 days | Working on applications submitted on: November 22, 2013 "

Last Friday I called CIC Agent to know what about my work permit and the guy told me, Vigreville received your application the 11/28/2013 and don't look the delay on the website because in real it may take up to 16 weeks for processing, then for me its impossible to wait 16 weeks.

Now my last option is the flagpole to the port of entry and I have all the document to establish a new Work Permit, but the problem is my VRT-Visitor was expired the 12/16/2013, then do you think guys I can go to the border to do the flagpole for the new Work Permit.

Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Hi Boa974 . Was this the first work permit you have applied for? If so I am curious that you were able to apply from within Canada. Did you do it online or by mail ?

With regards to your flagpole question. It wasn't clear if you want to go now or wait for your work permit approval.
If you are thinking of now , I can tell you what the call center told me with regards to a similar situation.
I asked about coming back into Canada while my WP is being processed after submitting it in the US. She said I can leave the US during the processing , but coming back into Ca it is up to the border immigration whether they would issue me with a TRV Visitor , as I will have to tell them that I am waiting for a work permit but don't yet have the approval.
So it is up to those unpredictable border immigration officers.

Cann unfortunately as I understand things are at present ( they keep changing) you cannot apply for your first work permit from within Canada. So yes you can change from visitor to worker but have to leave the country to do so , and it may take 3 - 4 months. As Boa974 said he was told 16 weeks. Check in on some of the other posts about work permits in this forum.
