What do you think is the status of my application and are there chances of getting the VISA. I applied on 26th of July 2017.

Review of eligibility: We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements.
Review of additional documents: We do not need additional documents.
Background check: We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.
Final decision: Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

Hello, Chem-Eng! Did you apply online? Where are you from?

Basically, the status says that your application is still being reviewed. It's been a month since your application. I am assuming the background check is the reason for the delay. Have you worked in the military and the likes?

I am from Pakistan, never worked in military or any law enforcement. Have 4 schengen, several turkish and dozen more visas and travel history during last 12 years. Working in a leading Multinational comp. as a Manager. Attached NOC from company in my application....applied with family...
attached invitation letter from my relatives in Canada.
I heard that, it takes typically less time i.e 10-15 days, if they reject. Since 40 days passed and above is the current status from CIC, do you think, chances are bright ?

How much time does background check take typically.
I submitted all passports including my family. I have to travel to my home country in October. If I won't get any feedback from them, can I request them to return our passports back?

I see. I am not an expert in TRVs ha ha but maybe the visa officer is looking into the fact that you are not residing in your home country plus you applied with your family. How many weeks of stay did you request?

The approval and rejection of a visa is not based on days of processing. It is really a case-to-case basis. I got approved after 7 working days, so it really depends on how strong and solid your case is.

Regarding your other question about getting back the passports, yes you can do it. In the meantime, just wait for the result of your application.

Same status on my application but my trv super delayed I submitted my application on 30nov 2016 biometric done on 1St of Dec and I am still waiting for the decision al most 10 month don't know what will heppend probably back ground check hope for the best
