Hello
I little background: my mom's been here for almost 2 years now and her initial trv was for 6 months. When i applied for an extension, ircc gave her 1.5 years which will end in August. She's 62, well-travelled, financially independent and has family back home.
Should we apply to extend her stay again? What are the odds of receiving another extension?
Or, send her back, and apply for a new trv?
Thank you!

It is up to you and CIC. The chances of extension do decrease as time passes. If she does return to India I would recommend staying for at least 6 months before reapplying.

Thank you for replying!

Can we apply for a new trv before this one expires? Just weighing my options cuz I'm completely dependent on her for child care support.

You have to apply at least 30 days before but you will likely not get a response until after the current trv expires which is fine. First of all you are breaking the terms of her trv if she is providing childcare since she is not allowed to work in Canada. I would assume she may get a few months more or no extension at all after receiving such a long extension the first time.

She isn't working. She takes care of her of her grandson and i mentioned this clearly in her LOE.
But,i see the point you're trying to make wrt extension. Best to send her back.
Thank you!

Actually you should have been denied if you mentioned your mother was staying for childcare reasons. You got very lucky. Since you would have had to hire a nanny or place your child in daycare she is in fact taking a job away from a Canadian and working. You should try to extend trv but have realistic expectations after 2 years. If you'd like her to return next summer it would probably be best for her to return and reestablish herself before reapplying. Would also consider supervisa if you'd like her to spend 2 years.
