TRV rejected- Lack of previous joint family travel

My family was refused today after 95 days.

Reasons for the 3 of us(me, wife and daughter were same as below:

1. Travel history
2. Purpose of visit
3. Lack of previous joint family travel

1. I have travelled alone to the UK about 6 times. Also to Canada(attended workshop for one week and returned) UAE, Turkey, India, South Africa, Kenya.

2. The family wanted to visit my wife's brother and his wife in Toronto for two weeks.

3. I have travelled together with my wife to the UK 3 times and to Turkey and Dubai together. But we have not travelled with our daughter before.

I provided all necessary documents to prove that we will return to Ghana. I am a head of department with good salary and 10 years working in the same company. My wife is a teacher and daughter is a pupil in class one.

My questions:
1. How do I address the refusal reasons?
Travel history: We have never violated any visit and have not spent more than a week outside Ghana. How do I address this reason?

2. Purpose. I included detailed itinerary for each day and where we would be staying. We are staying with her brother's family except two days where we will travel to Montreal and stay in a hotel. We provided bookings for this. We also stated we would take the opportunity to celebrate or 10th wedding Anniversary.

3. Lack of previous joint family visit. Do we have to travel together, the 3 of us to some country before we apply again to Canada?

Please help. Thanks.

Hi,

You may want to consider applying only for yourself and your wife. IMO, you must not apply for your daughter = She would be the family tie to return to Ghana.

1. Do you own property/land?

2. Do you live with family members who are dependent on you financially or for their well-being?

3. Can you include any work and personal commitments to return to by a specific date after your intended visit?

4. When did you last visit the UK and Canada? And your wife?

5. Will your wife be traveling during the school break?

Cheers

Oh ok. I was considering re applying without our daughter. I own a small property. I provided copies of the document.

We wanted to visit during the Christmas holidays

I travelled to Canada last year November.

My wife and I last travelled to the UK in July 2016.

That's good. It would help to prove you have a history of returning home after short visits abroad. Do you have any valid visas?

Do post the list of documents which you intend to submit for yourself + for your wife (separate lists) so that we can advise

You must also include....

For yourself:
A leave approval letter from your employer which states you will have your job when you return + why you would like to visit around Christmas (ability to take extended time off work due to holidays)

Income/Personal tax returns for the last 2 years (which would also confirm your salary, in a way)

Any financial investments (liquid or locked-in): Bank term deposits, mutual funds. shares/stocks, pension funds, etc

Property ownership documents + latest property tax receipt + current indicative market valuation (done by yourself or by a property assessor) + any market realty reports to back the property valuation

Birth certificate/Copy of passport (your daughter's) + School admission + Tuition fee receipt + a short explanation about who will take care of her temporarily when you are visiting Canada

Have you started your PhD? You must include a leave approval letter from your university

Do also include any work or personal commitment reasons which are scheduled after your visit (with evidence).... And/or if you are scheduled to visit another country after your intended visit to Canada (evidence of visas, flight and hotel bookings for that other visit).

Your detailed itinerary must include expense estimates.... and you must be able to prove that you can pay for this itinerary + airfare x 2 persons.... without borrowing from anyone

Do include a Travel History explanation (in a tabular format): Visa details + entry/exit dates + purpose of each visit. You can colour scan your UK visas and include them in the explanation

For your wife:
Similar documents for her employment + property + your daughter + a Letter of Financial Support from yourself + itinerary with expense estimates + 1-2 reasons/events which are scheduled after she returns + why she would like to visit around Christmas (ability to take extended time off work due to holidays)

Good morning. Please our 10th Wedding Anniversary falls on 5th January, 2017, can I include it in our itinerary?

Also my wife has just began a mandatory National service can we include that as evidence for her return?

Sure. You can include it. If your brother-in-law has planned a celebration then you could include evidence of it (venue, invitations sent out, etc).

Don't make the anniversary as the primary reason/purpose to visit. Do draw up a detailed day-by-day plan which would include a combination of sightseeing + anniversary + meeting family/friends + staying in at home for a few days (to make it realistic).

Also my wife has just began a mandatory National service can we include that as evidence for her return?
Yes, you can include it with evidence. When will it end?

A word of caution:
The mandatory service could possibly delay TRV processing for both you and your wife i.e. you may not get a decision until a decision is made on your wife's application. IRCC may run background checks on her application

Her service will end 31st August 2017. I have drawn a detailed day by day itinerary. The anniversary is only captured for 5th Jan.

Please what documents can I use to prove relationship with us and my brother in law?

Sorry her service ends 31st August 2018.

Should I respond to the three reasons why the visa was refused?

Yes, you must prove that your new circumstances + you have new evidence which addresses the previous refusal reasons

I applied with my wife only this time but again refused. Reasons;

1. Please how do I address these refusal reasons
1. Travel history
I have traveled to the UK about 8 times, Canada(for a one week workshop), India, Turkey, Dubai, South Africa, Kenya.
I have never spent more than 1 week on those trips. And never broken any immigration rules.

2. Purpose of visit
My wife and I were traveling to spend the Christmas holidays in Toronto with her brother and in law who are in Toronto.
We stated this clearly and with a detailed itinerary and thorough explanation with invitation letters and copies of her brothers permanent resident card and citizenship card of her brother's wife.

3. You have not provided documentation to prove you or your hosts assets and income. This looks fishy because it was never an issue in the first application.

We also addressed previous refusal reasons and why we will return to Ghana immediately after our visit including the fact that i am studying for my PhD in Ghana and my wife is undertaking her compulsory National Service (we provided documents to support this) including school fees payment receipts.

How can we address these two reasons honorable members. I just don't know what to included again in my next application. I may not be able to wait for GCMS notes because of lack of time. You know they take too long to process an application so i need to apply early enough.
