I need some advice before applying again... :'(

I am currently a housewife after quitting my job to take care of our son full time. I depend on my partner for my finances and my mother helps out as well. My partners' Canadian and my son already got his citizenship so he's going to have his passport soon.

We were invited to visit Canada so the family can see the baby for the first time. I applied for a trv and got refused with the following reasons:

1. travel history
- I provided our travel itinerary
- I didn't include a day to day activity

2. Employment prospects in country of residence
- I currently don't have a job
- Finances are taken cared of by parents and partner

3. Personal assets and financial status
- I have bank account $1000+ CAD (didn't include this in application)
- I only showed letter from mother and partner with their bank statements

I plan to apply again. Initially, we applied for 55 days. Would it be better to ask for 2-3 weeks? Our trip is from Sept 14-Nov 7

Any insight will be useful.

Cheers!

The reason is your husband and son are Canadian... so it looks very suspicious that you are asking for a TRV in order to "accompany" your family to Canada. It looks like you are trying to illegally immigrate as you do not have any job, depend on your husband completely and with both being Canadian there is no real reason to go back to your home country. You have to submit evidence this is not the case.

Why haven't your filed for a PR? Does your husband and son live and work abroad? How can your husband take a 55 day leave of his work? Are you travelling alone?

Thanks for the reply. We aren't married yet. He's currently working in China and his contract will end on August but plans to renew it after the visit in Canada. We visit him in China 1-2 months at a time (dependent visa) then have a 2week vacation in the Philippines and back again since September 2015.

Will it matter if the house lease is under my name in the Philippines? I am also part of the executive committee of a non profit volunteer group and I have a letter from the director. We don't plan to settle in Canada too. I will be traveling with him and the baby and then visit Singapore after before heading home to the Philippines.
