I filed my TRV application on July 17 by courier to Seattle. I enclosed a cover letter requesting to rush my file since Im mexican currently in Canada with valid WP and the new regulation just came in place July 13th.

Does anyone know how long it is taking to get it back?

I have already checked processing times on the CIC website but I want to know from personal experience; since I already have booked holidays leaving August 13 and I want to know if I should cancel/postpone my trip.

Any advise would be appreciated.

According to the web site it takes from 1 to 28 days. Your biggest problem is the mail service. After the visa is issued it takes another week to get to Canada.

I'm going to apply for mine at the same consualte so, please keep us posted with your processing times. If it takes too long, I will go and apply in person.

This new visa requirment for Mexicans is a huge head ache and we have to go throug this process thanks to those people who are trying to take advantage of the system.

Good luck and I do hope you get it next week.

Just to let anyone who is interested in getting one of this visas.
I just got my passport back yesterday. One day too late since I cancelled plane tickets on monday, but there is a lesson to be learned:

When you send your docs, send a prepaid ariway bill from FEDEX, it is the only one they will accept. The embassy sent my docs back to me on the 6th of Aug and I got them on the 11th, so I would have saved 4 days if I had known this.

And they did issue me a Multiple entry visa, however the expiry date on it is the same as my work permit: November 2009, which is silly since I will have to reapply not only for a work permit but for a new TRV as well... had I known this I would have applied for a single entry visa and saved myself $50

Good luck!
