1. TRV and visitor visa are the same thing.
2. Since she does not live in Canada, she cannot apply from inside Canada. Option 1: She will apply in the visa office in her home country. Option 2: Submit ONLINE application.
3. There are MANY things which can be used as ties to her come country. Here are just a few: Employment at her home country, ownership of house or land, she can mention her family members who still live in her home country such as her parents. You don't need to worry about this. The concern for CIC is when wifes are brought to Canada on TRV and then those women and those women remain in Canada after the visa expires because their Canadian husbands apply to sponsor them and the women don't need to return. In your case, since you are here on student visa, your wife has no other option than to eventually return.

Thanks a lot for the reply !!!!

I had approached the agency through whom my student visa was processed and also some other agencies too . Everyone asking us to wait for another 3 to 6 months to appply as i have just reached canada for the fall intake . As i am doing 1yr PG diploma course , i was adviced by many that its better to apply now rather than later.
But i am confused again .

*If she is here on TRV can we later change to open work permit ?

*When we applied mine we had filled a form online ,got a form with a bar code, with that and rest other docs including my photo and visa we directly went to nearest VFS office and submitted it manually . So was it an online apllication or paper application ?

And in her case she is currently unemployed ( but was on NRI status 2yrs back ). And has no assets or properties in her name . But yeah we can show bank balance in our joint account .

Totally confused whether to do it our self now or should we wait for some more months and take help from agencies ???

I am new to all these ......Senior members kindly advice
Thanks in advance

1. With respect to whether or not she can apply for work visa after arriving Canada on TRV, I do not have personal experience in this. What I have read in these forums is that some people who are in Canada on Student Visa brought their spouses to Canada on TRV and then after the spouse came to Canada, they applied for work permit as well as extension of the TRV.

2. The way you explained seems to me that you submitted paper application. Online is completely different. Online application would require you to set up an account and then upload all of the files using your CGKey account. You simply got the files online, filled them out, then you took them to an office.......that is paper application.

Yes, those who told you to apply sooner rather than later are right. Currently, the visa workers are on strike. This is creating a back-log of TRV application. My wife has been waiting for her TRV for over 5 weeks now.

Hi,
So we have decided to apply Visiting visa thru one of the representatives in India. They have asked us to come up with the below listed docs

*Marriage document
*Bank Statement with 6000 CAD ( we have money in our joint account . Hope that will do )
*Land documents ( she don't have anything in her name , so has asked to submit her parents assets with a declaration that she will inhert tht in future)
*Her educational certificate
*Invitation letter from me
*Full time enrollment letter from my college

** all docs has to be verified by a lawyer and notarized too **

* said no need of itinerary as money will be wasted if visa gets rejected , instead tht amount will show in the bank account ( ie instead of 4000 cad will show 6000 cad)

My wife is currently unemployed.

Hope these docs will help .. anything more to be done ?

Kindly advice

lhiz28, no word yet. We understand that the ongoing strikes prelong the processing times. I called the help center in Canada but they said that the visa office responsible for my wife's country of residence is the only office which can give status update. CIC in Canada says they do not know the status of outland TRV even if it is submitted online.

deebee, the advice they gave you is very good. Go with it. Those documents should be enough.

Good luck.
