While I was studying in Canada, both my study permit and student visa have expired (April 17th). I applied for a study permit from within Canada. While the permit was processing, I left the country and am currently in my home country. Today, I got approval for a study permit, and I am trying to apply for a TRV. Still, when I apply to visit canada from the IRCC portal, after the little questionnaire, there is no option to apply for TRV. There is only the option to apply for a Student Permit.

I thought maybe I couldn't apply online if I was outside the country. Surely, when I choose my current residence is in the questionnaire, I get the Student Permit and below it the TRV options.
So I go try find the forms to apply in person for the student TRV (S-1) . However, if I look into the forms, there are no forms for applying from outside of Canada. What does that entail? Which visa should I apply for or which forms should I use?

That's because Study Permit applications that have been submitted outside Canada automatically also give you the TRV, but it's not the case for people extending your study permit in Canada, Study Permit and TRV are two different applications. You were in Canada after your study permit expired, but you still applied to extend which gave you maintained status, Please note that if you leave Canada under the maintained status, you will lose the maintained status once leave Canada. If you're from a TRV exempt country, you may re-enter by showing your valid study permit, if that's not the case, contact IRCC.
