TRV from inside Canada

Here is a brief description of my case: I am a Russian citizen and am currently on a temporary working visa in Canada. It expires in three weeks. I applied for the TRV to stay three more weeks for vacation on the 13 November. Already two and a half weeks passed, but the status of my application is still submitted. The application processing times speak about 8 days.
Here are the two questions I got:

1) Am I applying for a visitor visa inside Canada or is this a visitor extension? Because the waiting times for the last one are way longer :(
2) Which office is processing the applications from inside Canada?

I am thankfull for any advice.

Getting a TRV doesn't allow you to stay for three more weeks of vacation. You need an extension for that.

Extension. Yes, they take longer.

You should apply for extension regardless. If the extension is in place and your WP expires then you will fall into implicit status, enabling you to remain in Canada until a decision is made (by the time it is made most probably you will be back home).

CPC Ottawa most likely. Nonetheless applications can be managed anywhere in the world depending on CPC's workload and convinience.

If I leave Canada and go to US my implicit status is gone, I suppose?

Sometimes that is used as a synonim of "TRV inland application".

Again, TRV does not serve your purposes.

Tricky. It is advised that you shouldn't travel while on implicit status to avoid unfortunate scenarios.

Hello,

I also have a pretty similar question.

My TRV expired in Oct, 2016 and I am currently in Canada. However, I have a valid wok permit until Dec, 2017. I applied online for a new TRV. The application processing times shows 8 days for a visitor visa application from inside Canada or 48 days for Visitor extension.

Which one does my application belong to Visitor visa within Canada or Visitor extension :(?

Thanks
Ravi

This system drives me crazy.

I am not sure for what exactly I applied. I used the online tool and filled out the application. I filled out the questionaire it said something like "You might be eligible to apply for an extension". I dont see how I could chose to apply for TRV or extension. The application number is starting with V...

Thanks for bringing some light into this chaos.

Yes you are in the correct track.

Once the "You might be eligible to apply for an extension" you continue using the wizard. It will give you all you need for "Application to Change Conditions or Extend Your Stay in Canada" paperwork.

Got an update - my extension was approved. Surprisingly in a very short time.
The problem is, I will be leaving Canada next week. It is very probable that I wont get my visitors record my mail until I have to leave. Will it be a problem to cross the border without it?
